The ending of this book is amazing. I really liked that this was a dystopian novel involving Native Americans/Indigenous People. The premise is that their bone marrow allows people to dream, so they are hunted down and placed in "schools" where it is drained from their bodies. (Filipinos make an appearance as villains in one chapter of the book.) I like the idea that if you are fluent in a language, you dream in that language.

This was such a sad read! So much despair, so many unfair things, so many references to things that HAVE actually happened that you’re left to kind of just bawl. But the ending is so hopeful with an actual happy moment even! There were some really powerful moments of cultural pride. The way death was handled was especially moving to me.
