The latter half of this book was definitely stronger than the first half. This book definitely meandered a lot, but the character we’re good, with clear motivation, and the end of this book was perfect. Also, the concept is genius, and I loved seeing it play out.

I think this would have been a 5 star book for me if I had read it when it came out rather than now, in 2025. I was a huge fan of dystopian novels, but given the state of the world right now, it felt a little too dark for my liking at the moment. Still, it was beautifully written, both heart breaking and joyous, and a really interesting concept.
