(3.5) Amanda Palmer is one brave woman, and someone I now really admire for working and thinking outside the usual restrictive norms of our society. This book chronicles her life and it is very interesting; she doesn't hold back at all, so we get a very genuine and intimate look at her time as the 8-foot Bride in Harvard Square (and around the world), as a rock star of sorts and how she interacts with her fans, and her relationships with her mentor, Anthony, and her husband, Neil Gaiman (who sounds like a good guy!).

Five bajillion stars.
Amanda, thank you for writing this book. It's wonderful.

Review redacted in light of recent allegations. I have no desire to engage with or promote this material.

I appreciated the spark to think in a new way about asking and about relationships, but it was much more of a memoir than a how-to, so you do have to write your own chapter about life application.

This seems to be Amanda Palmer's follow up to her TED talk on the same idea - just bigger. I got the audio book (written, read, sung, and performed by the author), which I found very enjoyable because it didn't sound narrated, but more like a very nice conversation with an old friend. I was expecting this book to be more of a "how to" about asking, but it turned out to be more of a memoir, which was ok, but not really what I was looking for. I also felt it skipped around quite a bit and that made it hard to follow, but that could be the nature of the audio edition. Anyway, to sum up: Amanda Palmer tells her story of how she made it big on Kickstarter and a whole lot more. The book was good because I liked Amanda as a person. Get the audio edition so that you can hear her voice and the Ukulele Anthem. It's great.

Not a bad autobiography. Amanda Palmer breaks down one of the fundamental aspects of human interaction of just asking people for help, or just a listening ear.

Repetitive and boring

Skjønner ikke hvilken mekanismer som gjør at jeg elsker denne så mye som jeg gjør, men det er ok.

I usually read books & pass them on. But I'm keeping this one (I will loan out out though). I am a fan of @neilhimself & became aware of @amandapalmer as a result. I've been following her on Insta & Twitter for awhile tho I've never listened to her music (yet...thanks for the playlist). This book is going to "stay with me" for awhile. Lots to think about.
Thank you. #artofasking

!!!!!! This book spoke to me on so many levels. It made me see things from a different, fresher, more positive perspective. I love it. I've been a fan of Amanda Palmer for seven years, and by now I have exploded. I love this book so much.
