I love that the heroine isn’t just innately good at everything has all the answers.
Diem ( a name I only ever heard before on MTVs The Challenge) is flawed and often makes mistakes.

I did not see this turn of events coming. Her mother is also a guardian? And lived on the Coeur island for 9 months? Jaysus. These guardians obviously don’t know shit because they are messing everything up. Ugh i’m so stressed out 😩
So first of all the obvious: Luther and Diem are mates, and i loooove the tension between them. Luther groveling and falling for her first is my favorite thing EVER.
Also fuck Henri. That boy can’t show up when she needs him the most. Boy bye.
The found family trope with Eleanor, Taran, Alixe and Lily is so adorable. They are so well written and I can’t wait to read more of their backstory.
Diem’s magic: I had so much anxiety for Diem not being able to control her magic for almost the ENTIRE book. I would have not shown up to the challenging. Too much pressure. I wouldn’t be a good fantast book without her powers being so much bigger and unimaginable than everyone else’s.
