This book was somehow overly complex yet written in the style of a thirteen year old's daydreams. Gorgeous cover; epic failure inside.

I couldn’t follow up with the fractions
I decided to reread this bc I read it 3 yrs ago and give it 5 stars…it certainly was not a 5 star read
This book was ok loved the concept. Loved the three main characters but after the middle it felt really repetitive, as well as at the end I didn't feel a need to pick up the other books.
I really enjoyed this book and can't wait for the next one! I idea of a first life and second life are great ideas; light and dark. I loved the storyline.
I've got mixed feelings about this book, to be honest.
The cover and the premise made me put this book far up my TBR for years - and I finally decided to read this book with my sister. And we don't share the same opinions.
In this world, your life on Earth is your Firstlife and when you die, you have two (three...) options: Troika and Myriad (and Many Ends (if you are Unsigned and thus haven't chosen either of the two realms)). I liked how it's so religious with Troika being Heaven, Myriad being Hell and Many Ends being Purgatory, but.... almost throughout the book I was so confused by the two realms and I really couldn't remember which realm had which virtues and who were from where...
Also, the purpose of the war between the two realms and what they are fighting for isn't really explained - only that each brother (I don't remember who they are, I just recall a pair of brothers being mentioned) wants to rule over both realms... which isn't all that original...
Then there's Tenley, "Ten", our main character. The main conflict in this book is that of her not knowing which realm to choose, which is fair as she can't undo that decision, but.... she never, ever gives us a reason why she doesn't just choose a realm.
She's this special snowflake who is the one person able to end the war by being stronger than anyone else, she's 17, she lives in an asylum, she's a virgin, badass and a poet. And obsessed with numbers, of course, which fits her name, Tenley, perfectly. Never have I ever hoped this much for a main character to die (but of course, once she does, she is resurrected.).
This book keeps mentioning how there's no second chance, that death is death - but in swoops Tenley and dies FOUR freaking times! And only the last, fourth time is she in a situation where no one can save her. This makes the ending SO DAMN anti-climatic.
And not to forget the love triangle, of course, as this is a YA fantasy book. Within a few short days, the two hotties (one from Troika, one from Myriad (of course...)) fall in love with our main character, and their pressure to choose their realm is just too much for her. Her life is rough.
I like the idea of a world being like this - but the aforementioned reasons made this book a bit too difficult to get through without having to vent to my sister (who, sadly for me, isn't annoyed by all this) or read another book ("The Iliad", wup wup).

Intriguing concept...and that’s all this book has going for it. Terrible.
This book was…interesting to say the least. The concept was really cool, it was obviously inspired by heaven / hell and the religious belief that everyone signs away their life to one realm beyond the mortal one or the other. I was super excited because the back cover is so enthralling—it was a major let down. The writing is extremely underdeveloped, immature, and lazy. Not only that, every single character was one dimensional and boring. The world building was god-awful and most of the time I couldn’t even picture what they were doing.
Overall, it bored me about halfway through, and it was a painful drag to finish. I wont be picking up the second book sorry Gena! Save yourselves and do not pick this one up. It could have been absolutely amazing, like I would watch it in movie form—but she was not the right person to write this story.
