This book was SO good. It’s spooky and creepy. I devoured this book!

While the main twist felt a little too predictable, the secondary twist was truly surprising, and the book kept me engaged even when I thought I knew where it was all going. Monsters are made; McMahon is definitely a Mary Shelley fan.

I wasn't quite vibing with this like I thought I would, but everyone kept saying "push through to get the twist near the end!", after which I continued reading and found myself asking the air around me "Is THIS the final twist they meant?!" more times than I could've anticipated.

It twists predictably, and then it twists unpredictably, and then it twists AGAIN and then by the time the last-ish one comes you're like "I'm gonna turn the page and find another one, aren't I?"

Overall I think the end was clever and interesting despite some of my other misgivings along the way. Worth a quick weekend if you want a non-taxing read for Spooky Szn!

Jennifer McMahon is an auto-buy for me. This reimagining of Frankenstein was beautiful and sad. I know some folks dislike the ending but it puts a happier spin on the original monster tale. And in today’s current climate, this was the distraction I needed.

Couldn't put it down and enjoyed the final twists! Another great book by one of my favs.

This is my first Jennifer McMahon book and I am a FAN! Now I want to read more of her books. I enjoyed reading this book from start to finish and really like the twists. I kept thinking about this book days after reading ☺️

The last 40 pages or so of this book is the only reason it wasn’t a 5 star read for me. I loved the majority of this story, but the ending did fall a little flat. Very atmospheric, a little dark, a really great twist.

Interesting, smart, fun and surprising.
