Holy mother of god, everything they write is so goddamn addictive. Two badass fmcs, two insane enemies to lovers romances, prophecies, an eternal war, battles upon battles, I mean it's literally everything you could possibly want. In true twisted sisters fashion, the last 100 so pages left me shaking with anticipation. I was shocked by the ending and sooo emotional, I'm so excited for where the rest of this series will go and I feel like it's going to just keep getting better and better.

A slow start to another great book by the Twisted Sisters, but after the ending of the first book, I think a slow start was in order. Though initially I struggled to keep going in some of the first few chapters it allowed the story to build again travelling through each of the characters stories to the ending which just leaves you begging for the next book immediately.
I have a strong love for the FMCs, equally as strong and badass as the other but in interestingly different ways. Vesper being blood thirsty and vicious with Everest adding a gentler and compassionate touch to her own brand of viciousness.
I don’t even know where to start with the love interest/potential love interests. In true Twisted Sisters style the relationships in this book are brutal, to say I am excited to see where we go from here is an understatement.
All in all a great read for me personally, with the story moving along creating more intrigue and the relationships keeping you guessing on if a happily ever after could even be possible. Bring on Cinder Vale!

“We are all monsters in each other’s nightmares.”
Echo Fort by Caroline Peckham and Susanne Valenti is the second book in the Sins of the Zodiac series. The story follows Vesper and Everest as they’re thrown into a brutal war filled with betrayal, forbidden bonds, and unleashed power. Grief, captivity, and shifting loyalties force them to choose between vengeance and the greater good at the cost of sacrifice, fractured love, and a world on the brink of destruction.
✨ Tropes:
True enemies to lovers
Forced proximity
Slow burn
Dark fantasy
Multiple POVs
Vesper and Everest are messy and raw in the best way. Their growth while still clinging to loyalty was heartbreaking to read at times. I loved learning more about Bastian. And Kasian… listen, I’ll always root for a morally gray, damaged MMC, and he’s exactly that.
There are a lot of minor characters, but they’re not hard to keep track of. Some are only out for themselves and looking to get ahead, while others show up to support and care for the FMCs. Then there are those whose intentions are still unknown, which adds even more tension to the story. Galomp needs his own shoutout because he’s so wholesome and caring, an unexpected bright spot in the darkness.
The plot is action-packed with twists and connections that kept me hooked. The last few chapters had me saying “what just happened??” in the best possible way. The writing is sharp, full of banter and tension, and so bingeable. I flew through it. At its core, this story digs into loyalty, grief, identity, and the painful unraveling that happens when you start questioning everything you’ve ever known.
🖤 What worked: everything. The world-building, the character arcs, the banter, the twists. There were moments that tore me apart and left me wishing things could be different.
❌ What didn’t: the fact that it ended. I need book three (Cinder Vale) immediately.
This series is quickly becoming a favorite, and Echo Fort is an absolute must read for anyone who loves dark fantasy.

A strong sequel to the first book and I liked the addition of some different POVs but was eager to keep coming back to Vesper and Everest’s different plotlines. Enjoyed the emotional development in both of them and had such high hopes for V&B, and even for E&K but what a surprise the ending was! I am intrigued to see what happens next based on the ending. Heartbroken for V&B for sure and confused by E at the moment. I feel like we are going to start seeing some bonds forming soon hopefully (astral adversaries etc). Desperate for the next book!
