I really love the idea of where this entry was going, but the way it gets there is where it loses its steam. I love the characters, as I always will in a Finley book, but this book tried to do way too much without really doing anything?

I personally am never really going to be a fan of any sort of lack of/miscommunication trope, so I understand that's where a lot of my thoughts are coming from, but it just feels silly when that is the driving force of a plot.

I love Kelley and Thad, though. Thad felt a lil underdeveloped to me, but I have no major complaints with him. I love the Damon cameo, but too much time was spent on Brady that it just felt... off?

I really am excited for the next entry, though! I know most of my irritations come from entry pain in a book one in a series and all of the setting up.

UGH LOVE OMG. I was a little nervous about this book and there were times where it was a little slow, but it was soooo good and came together perfectly. They communicated so so so well and Damon really pulled through. Ugh I want to cry it was so cute I love them together. So excited for book #2!

I miss Damon and plan to reread Fake Out as soon as I finish writing this. So happy that we are diving into the connected world of King Sports and I enjoyed meeting Thad and Kelley, though it took me a bit to warm up to Thad. He won me over with his honesty and genuine care for Kelley though.

“Out of everything in my life I could get anxiety over, loving you isn’t even on the list.”

Ah, Kelley, what a sweetheart and I can relate to his struggles. It was a joy seeing him grow and watching him and Thad fumble their way into love. They really do make a cute couple! I have ideas for the next book and hope they’re true. Either way hats off to more King Sports.
