Why to much sa in the first 100 pages, like it get its a f’ed up world but I just can’t do it.

4.25. This book was massive. 800 pages and small tiny print. I really enjoyed it. I did like the beginning more with pre "viral". I liked Wolgast character. It starts out with the 'virus" and how it came about. It turns men into vampire type beasts that just kill. Then the second part of book is 92 years later. It followed a group of people living post apocalyptic. At first it was hard to get into since you wanted more of the original characters. But then it was very good. It left on a cliffhanger, so you do have to read on. Fascinating book. Cronin is very good with detail. At times I saw the book in my head as a movie.

this book really needed an editor

2.5 - somewhere between 'it was ok' and 'i liked it'.

immense. sprawling. not necessarily in a good way.

way too much background and exposition and i still don't feel like i actually care about any of these characters.

even though this is a giant tome of a book, i was surprised that it kept going far after wolgast and amy meet up. the timeline is immense and i was interested in what happened, just not very interested in any of the people. skimmed the entire last half of the book.

general flow of novel: true detective meets world war z (the movie) meets the walking dead meets falling skies.
