I don’t know why Fox or whoever thought they could make this a tv series, the scope is MASSIVE.

This was an odd one structurally. It's almost like two completely separate novels with some short stories that tie them together. I think I liked it overall but it also felt like a soon as I got to really know a character they died or were lost which was depressing. This world is also extremely bleak and generally hope seems like a bad thing most of the time. I want to see what happens but I'm almost hesitant to read the next book.
This is a novel of two parts. The first part (some 250 pages) is excellent, the second (suddenly thrust forward 100 years into the future, but with less interesting characters) not so much. Almost like the second part is written by a different person. Life's too short for 450 pages of the dull second part.

Still reading on it. I started this book about two years ago and dropped it halfway through. So much expository!! Way too much in my opinion! I was only slightly interested. But! I decided to finish it. I just wanna say, I finally felt pulled in about 3/4 of the way through. It really shouldn't have taken that long...

Sort of a trilogy in one volume.
The first book is very good. Thrilling and fascinating. Had me on the edge of my dang seat.
The second book jumps forward in time nearly a century and is...well, it drags. The novel becomes much less interesting here with character with much less interesting goals and relationships.
The third book wraps things up in an all right way. Felt the bleakness at the end was rather forced and mostly dumb.
So, yeah, one great book followed by a bad one and a decent one.

The first quarter was a lot more compelling than the rest of it imho.
This was a very good book and I am going to download the second book in the series now. Of course the ending was totally unsatisfying, but it's okay because the second book has been published. Scott Brick is a great reader as well.
