I really wanted to like this book. I watched the tv show that was based on this book, and even though it was cancelled after one season, I kind of liked it. But the book....the book....It was unnecessarily long and boring. There were too many characters that I was supposed to like and root for, I guess, but I couldn't care less...The basic idea of the story was great, but not much happened in the book. And the tv show only covered a very small part of the plot. If they would ever decide to make another season, I would whatch it, but I don't think I'll be able to make myself read the other two books ever.
3.5⭐️. I do plan on reading the remainder of the trilogy. I would recommend this book especially if you like vampires or apocalyptic books.

Loved it even more the second time! I finished The Passage and boy am I glad that this time I have the sequel in my possession and ready to start. I can not wait to get going on it.
As I was reading I found there were many parts which I remembered easily likeThere was other stuff too, but suffice it to say I am glad I read it again. I now am fully prepared for[b:The Twelve|13281368|The Twelve (The Passage, #2)|Justin Cronin|http://d.gr-assets.com/books/1331230956s/13281368.jpg|14373498] :-)

beginning stuff with Wolgast and Amy, and then in the second section with The Colony and the journey to Colorado. In particular I remembered the parts with Theo and Mausami and the birth of Caleb and the rest of the party encountering the soldiers. There were quite a lot of other details which I realize now were lost and it was good to review them. For example the opening scenes where the scientists were discovering the creatures from where the virus came. Also later on when the travelers set out from the Colony, the facts of why were fuzzy. I was thinking it was about the batteries for some reason.
Just as good on my third read as on the first. Love this series!
Interesting post-apocalyptic version of the vampire mythology. I'm looking forward to the sequel to find out what happens to the world and what the scary little 100 year old girl can do to save mankind.
With detailed narratives, I usually find myself skipping pages to get to the meat, but I didn't do that with this book. The story was compelling, kept changing and was well-paced for its size. I couldn't put it down at times, which depending on who you are can be a big problem or a blessing. It had a zombie vibe at times (the mindless hungry mass), but I like that stuff. The ending wasn't epic, but I'm ok with that. Overall, loved it.

I winced when I saw Stephen King praising it on the back-I went through a Stephen King phase when I was ten or so but by fifteen I was starting to realize I really didn't like his books-but a book blogger I like loved this book. I gave it a good chance, kept forcing myself to go on even though I was bored from about page fifty, but I just couldn't do it. People who enjoy novels by Stephen King would probably like this.
Really enjoyed the start but then it dragged on a bit. Long epics/sagas are just not for me
