Fantastic book from beginning to end. Did not want to put it down, could not stop talking about it. Best book I have read thus far in 2012.
I tried so hard, but it's really not capturing my attention. Maybe I'll come back to it.
Very long !!! And yet I couldn't quite stop reading it because I wanted to know what happened. I refuse to be sucked into reading book 2.
This was a listening experience for me and at times I was wishing for the real deal -- print. Interesting twist on the vampire thing. Kinda want to read the next ones as they come out but may pass on it. Reminded me a lot of The Stand. Made me think that this new generation of readers needs to meet the master of this genre for comparison.
This book is like a cross between The Strain trilogy and World War Z. The ending of this book (#1 in the trilogy) was pretty cliffhanger-y. There was very little resolution to part one, and mostly groundwork laid for part two. Overall, a good, well-paced read in what apparently is my new favorite genre (post-apocalyptic fiction).

This was almost rated a 3 star, because I read some other reviews and I was like "Yes! The characters do swear by saying "Flyers!" all the time, which is kind lame", and I still have no idea what the Passage is, and yes the dialogue is limited and a little clunky when it's used.
But I did enjoy this story. I wanted to keep reading it and find out what happened, and I was disappointed when it finished without really finishing ( more books to come). I found the first section of the book intriguing, and I liked Waldorf's characterisation. The book surprised me at times and I just liked the feel of it.

Once I began, I wished that I could put everything else on hold, and just read, read, read! I'm not a vampires-story gal, but The Passage isn't really about vampires. It is a story about people, about civilization, about life. I liked it, and I need to get my hands on The Twelve very soon.
For a book with so many characters, they are tolerably well-drawn, and surprisingly likeable.
I know that many of my reading friends wouldn't like this book, but I was especially glad that it was a substantial 766 pages.

Its not often i find a book that i truly want to write a review on, but this one was just amazing.
Its such a great story that compels you to keep reading until about halfway through then it drags before picking up again. That is expected though with a book that is as long as The Passage.
Many things happened throughout the book though that kept me guessing. It wasn't the stereotypical plot lines and repetitive things. It was always something new to keep me reading it seemed. Not to say things didn't get repeated, but really it was just amazing to see how Cronin tied these characters together. It all came together in an unexpected way i felt, but in a good way that keeps me wanting to read the next book. And i want to read it ASAP!
