I think Amy Schumer is funny and this book had interesting stories but it was not well written.

Loved this! She was funny, vulnerable and honest. Can we be friends Amy Schumer?

l like Amy Schumer. I respect her talent, her vulnerability, her feminism, her intelligence, and her work ethic. I liked Trainwreck quite a bit. She is enjoyable on the red carpet. All that said, though there are brilliant moments in her stand up and her tv show, and I have great respect for her intellect and frankness, I simply don't enjoy watching her work most of the time. There are some sketches and bits that I think are genius, but they are just not for me. Not every act is for every viewer. But I like this book which is smart, sometimes funny, and really empowering for younger women.

I put off reading this book for a long time because of the title (side note, did the same thing with The Book Thief because I hated the idea of someone stealing books). I thought it was making fun of The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, which I love. Okay, I was being petty. And I'm glad I got over it and checked this book out.

The only bit of Schumer's work I'm familiar with is Trainwreck. But that didn't matter. This book made me gasp, laugh out loud, and want to cry. 90% of these essays were really great.

((SPOILERS BELOW))

That being said, I felt like it was insensitive and a bit tastless for Schumer to follow her essay about the Trainwreck shooting with grand plans for her funeral one day. She seemed genuinely passionate about gun violence and making a change. I have no doubt she really is. It's just that it felt overly indulgent and insensitive to then go on about the funeral she would like to have. That's probably the only reason this book didn't get a full 5 stars from me.

Funny but much heavier than I expected. She has quite the adventures and the stories from her life range from hilarious to serious and emotional.

¯\_(ツ)_/¯ it was fine and a quick read. As much as she rubs me the wrong way this book didn't make me super angry or anything.

A collection of short stories from Amy Schumer's life. Some were good, some were inspiring. I love her more now if that's possible.

I love this woman even more now. Too bad I'm a hermit and will never meet her but maybe one day I can see her live show.

I should mention right off the bat that I'm an Amy Schumer fan. This wasn't a [a:Mindy Kaling|194416|Mindy Kaling|https://d2arxad8u2l0g7.cloudfront.net/authors/1440718587p2/194416.jpg] experience again for me (though I do love her and really need to pick up [b:Why Not Me?|28501506|Why Not Me?|Mindy Kaling|https://s.gr-assets.com/assets/nophoto/book/50x75-a91bf249278a81aabab721ef782c4a74.png|41897766]. I purposely sought this one out to read because I like her.

What I expected from Amy - crass, crude humor and oversharing, I got, but I was delighted I got more. This book has depth and heart, and Amy opens herself up on every page. While sitting down with Mindy's books is like meeting with her at a coffee shop, Amy's is more intimate, as though we're on her living room couch, flipping through photo albums. She doesn't just share her outlandish moments with hilarity and edge, she discusses her bad days and her really bad days and her mistakes and her regrets. Simply put, this is Amy Schumer. Take her or leave her, love her or hate her, Amy.

The Girl with the Lower Back Tattoo was much longer than I would have liked for this sort of thing. Occasionally, Schumer repeats herself, but not to the point that I was annoyed by it. I was pleasantly surprised by her (or her editor's) organization; the book flowed really well from chapter to chapter. This book won't win her a Pulitzer and it knows it. It isn't breathtaking in its prose and it doesn't need to be - it's too self-aware for that.

I really don't have anything negative to say about this, other than it was a bit too long for me. I really love Amy, and I love her so much more after reading this.
