So many laugh out loud hilarious parts, and deep, brutally honest parts. It's not a chronological memoir, more a collection of essays. The audiobook read by Amy is partly like being at one of her shows and partly like having a real conversation with her over coffee. Absolutely fantastic, and I hope she writes another book soon.

So many things! Thanks, Amy.

I liked this, and her, a lot.

I love her even more after reading this book (and having seen her in the Twin Cities. It's funny, smart, and giving. I like that she's earnest.

I felt like I was at a combo of Amy’s stand up show and conversation over coffee. Book is raunchy, honest, pee your pants funny one minute, heartbreaking/tearing up sad/hard another minute. This kind of book needs to be read in the audio form by Amy herself. Seriously quick witted writing. Not one to listen to with kidos around.

This is one of the times that I wish Goodreads allowed you to give half stars, because this is probably like a 2.5.

Amy Schumer. I don’t know if I like her. I think I do? Trainwreck and I Feel Pretty are both very much guilty pleasure movies for me. They’re kinda trashy but I like to watch them every now and then. But then I tried to watch her Netflix comedy show and I couldn’t get more than six minutes into it. I thought this book would finally give me the answer and it didn’t. But I think that’s okay.

The first third or so of the book is crap. She talks about money a lot and gives of a ‘I am so rich. But I used to be poor. Boo boo, poor me. But not really because my parents were rich when we were growing up’ vibe. She is also very crass throughout the whole thing. But it does get better. She has some serious stories, some funny stories. But mostly, she seems like a real, flawed person. She doesn’t try to pretend to the reader that her life is perfect. It’s refreshing.

There definitely should be trigger warnings for this book. There’s a whole chapter about when she got raped. But she downplays it and called it ‘grape’ - grey area rape. It’s not something to be downplayed. She also talks about domestic violence and that chapter was surprisingly serious and well-written.

The whole book is a good combination of relatable, shocking, funny, serious, brazen, tender and basically reflects what we as people are. Overall, it was a mildly enjoyable and entertaining read.

I have never been sure if I enjoy Amy's comedy, but I watch her show and standup regardless. There is some very smart humor mixed with the other vulgarities. I certainly find her more likable after reading her book. It is a good fix if funny and serious, but definitely still vulgar. Hope the next book comes out soon.
