I loved it... I listened to the audiobook and i'm glad i did.
The story of Amy is something i didn't expected at all.

I'm not a big Amy Schumer fan - she's a bit too crude for my taste - and I only downloaded this one because I was on a long car trip and needed something to listen to ASAP. She narrated it and I really enjoyed hearing her stories in her voice. There's a lot of her usual style of stuff, but also a lot about her dad's battle with MS, her weird relationship with her mom, an abusive relationship she was in, feminism, gun violence, and how hard she's worked to get to where she's at. There were some heavier parts I wasn't expecting, but she did a really nice job switching between topics and the book flowed quite well. It's still not entirely my cup of tea, but she is funny and this was perfect for a car trip, especially when I was stuck for an hour not moving (thanks, Atlanta!).
Funny, touching, heartbreaking, and ridiculous all rolled into one. I feel you, introverted Amy! You are the best friend I haven't actually met in person yet.
I enjoyed the mix on this audiobook of heartrending realities with some laughter thrown in. Amy did a good job of reading the book, too.
I wanted to like this book because I liked (or loved) all the other comedian written books. I guess Schumer's humor is just not for me. I did not find any part of it funny. In fact, there were many moments in this book that were unpleasantly disturbing. Unlike other disturbing books I have read, this disturbance did not teach me anything or add anything to my life/understanding of the world. It was just unpleasant.
I could not get through until the end - and I almost never abandon books halfway through. Sigh.

Loved it, full of funny stories and anecdotes. Such a relatable woman, I haven't laughed so much reading a book in so long!
This book was not at all what I expected it to be, but in the best way possible. I was expecting a hilarious laugh-out-loud book with lots of raunchy stories and jokes. Which of course, there was plenty of; after all that's why we love Amy. But this book also tackled some very serious issues. Amy discusses issues such as consensual sex, domestic violence, and gun violence. She even dedicates an entire chapter to Mayci Breaux and Jillian Johnson, who were victims of a shooting that took place at a showing of Trainwreck in a Louisiana movie theater. Amy then goes on to discuss the importance of improving our country's gun laws, including requiring background checks for ALL gun sales and urges readers to educate themselves and take action to help end gun violence. I truly admire the way Amy handles this issue. She tells readers:
"When I've written sketches about gun safety on my TV show, people have responded by saying they wish I'd just be funny. They tell me to stick to comedy because that's what they come to me for. I'll tell you what I tell them: No! I love making people laugh and am grateful that I'm equipped to do that. But when an injustice affects me deeply, I will speak about it - and I suggest you do the same."
Amy easily could have done exactly what her critics suggested and just stuck with comedy. But I love the fact that she was willing to take the opportunity to discuss various serious issues that she feels strongly about, even when she knows that it might not be a popular decision.
Overall, this book is a great read that will make you laugh until you're sick, make you think, and even break your heart a little. And I wouldn't have it any other way.

I was expecting a funny book, similar to her stand up but it was more "life lesson" focused. All the stories were a little preachy (non-religious) and had a moral(ish) to the end of the story. Wasn't what I was looking for in this book.
Absolutely not what I expected but I'm glad I read it.
