I did this one on audio. Not particularly a 'humor' book, but more a collection of random stories from Amy Schumer's life. I'm not a particular fan of her comedic style, but can appreciate the body positive messages in this book. Valuing self worth was a huge theme in this book, and those sections were the most powerful and moving moments.

In addition to her call for background checks for gun purchasing-- as this was a few years back, I forgot about the shooting that occurred at a viewing of her movie Trainwreck, killing two women. You can tell that she felt that tragedy personally and became an advocate for change in that arena.

Other than those few moments, which you can find the same messages from her in episodes of her sketch show, the rest was random tidbits that celebrities come up with to fill a book. Which essentially reminds me of that "book" about themselves that everyone writes in middle school... what's your favorite color? Do you have hobbies or interests?

Surprising

**disclaimer: I listened to the audio version

...and I'm so glad I did. Hearing Amy read/narrate her own stories made this so much better. Yes, I feel like I can call her Amy now after reading that book. In fact, I feel like we're kinda BFFs and I was so sad when the audiobook ended, I wanted more! Not every chapter was laugh out loud funny, in fact I cried at a few passages, but I finished up feeling like we just met on the street and shared coffee. One of the best audiobooks of my year so far.

Loved it! This isn't a book of stand up humor, so if you're looking for that look elsewhere. There are funny parts, but there are also parts that are heartbreaking, uncomfortable, and anger inducing. Reading it made me respect her more as a person, which also makes me like her more as a comedian.

Just not my fav, 2.5

I can't recommend the audio version enough. I laughed out loud more times than I can count. If you already think Amy is funny then you will think this book is funny. There are a few serious moments as well, the most poignant of which was the chapter on gun violence.

I'm let down.

Good not great.

This was a funny book. A good break from fiction. I may be biased because she and I went to the same college.
