Definitely don't read if you're just looking for ongoing jokes. Schumer touches on a lot of important (and at times, heavy) topics that made me tear up a few times. I love her commentary on her younger self's journal entries, read with mild self-deprecation and hilarious footnotes. Overall I really didn't expect such a deep read, and I grew a stronger appreciation for her as a person.

I wanted to love it but it just wasn't doing it for me. I was interested in hearing it through the end but I wouldn't say I enjoyed the book. Sorry Amy.

Great listen & I related to a lot of this book as one of my parents has MS too. Funny, insightful, raw and authentic.

4.5 stars. Loved the inside look at her life. The book was not hilarious, but that's ok. I thought it was raw and real. Better than several other comedian's books that I've read.

Not as funny as I expected but deep and so so much heart. I love this girl and everything she does.

I love Amy Schumer’s stand-up, TV show and movies, so reading this was a no-brainer. There wasn’t as many laugh out loud moments as I would have liked, but I was surprised at how open she was about the hard parts of her life, of which there were more than I expected. Humor really can hide so much. I also really enjoyed hearing about her rise to fame and of course all the vagina jokes. Would recommend for fans who want to know more about the real person behind the celebrity.

I had never listened to any of her stand up and just jumped on the band wagon of hating Ms. Schumer. But this book was very thought full and I would read it again. I was humorous and heart warming and in some places, very sad.

Dear Amy Schumer, there were plenty of times reading this book when I did not like you and more than a few times I asked why I was bothering to read this book. But, Amy, you wrote this book to be honest about yourself, and even if we the readers end up not liking ever piece of you, it is both honorable and applaudable for you to be yourself regardless of who that is. I have and always will defend you from people who both take exception with your brand of comedy (as if male comics haven't earned millions with crude humor or penis jokes) and those who see you as representative of all female comedy and form opinions accordingly. With this book, it was actually when you weren't joking, when you were honest about your life experiences that I liked you most Your writing on your relationship with your mom, your sexual assault, and your abusive relationship, that's when I connected with you most. In the end, I don't like everything about you, (I mean, let's be real, you spend a lot of time saying women deserve oral sex, but then confess you rarely give blow jobs. Like, yeah, women often don't receive oral sex in kind, but fair is fair in consenting adult sexual relationships...) but I liked your book, and I liked you being honest with us. Keep on being your unlikeable self, though I'm sure you don't need me to tell you that.

Relationships, politics, love for others (and self) and accepting yourself for all of your flaws are prime fodder for this hilarious memoir that has a variety of gut-wrenching stories that are indeed funny, but some that are also sad. Schumer nails it with her debut book, and can't wait for more!
