I liked this book, then I got to the chapter on gun violence and realized I love it too.

I really, really liked this book. I had pretty low expectations for it. I really love Amy's comedy and her show but I was worried this book would just be silly, surface-level stories. I thought it might be like Mindy Kaling or Amy Poehler's books which to me felt like they didn't REALLY give you a true impression of the person writing the book. This book was not that at all. Amy talked about her family's deep, personal struggles. She opened up about her sex life in sometimes funny, sometimes heartbreakingly tragic stories. She went deep. Hearing her read the book herself endeared her to me so much. You could hear the emotion in her voice when she talked about the shooting that occurred during a Trainwreck screening. More than anything the book made me appreciate what a badass, honest, smart, funny and hardworking feminist comic she is. We're lucky to have her!

Best audio book ever! Loved it Amy-lots of insight, sharing, comedy and vulnerability! Hearing it in your voice was wonderful! Will say it was tricky to find time to listen when no one else was around-definitely not for kids!

I've always liked Amy Schumer. Her show is hilarious and her stand-up is a breath of fresh air. Does that mean I find every little thing she does funny? No, but in what world is it expected that you need to please people all the time? Before reading this book, I really knew nothing other than what I had seen of her on her show and some of her stand-up. And unless you've been living under a rock, you know that she gets a lot of flack in the media, so I've seen that too. Like a ridiculous amount. It always saddened me when I would read what people say about her, but after reading her book, it saddens me even more. I know it's easy to get sucked into that hive mind of hatred and forget that she is a person. But if you gain nothing from this book, at least gain that; she is a person, just like the rest of us. An imperfect person, just like the rest of us. A person worthy of love, just like the rest of us.

In comedy, you often only see one side of the comic. It's almost like comedians aren't allowed to have any emotion other than "funny," and are required to be this sort of caricature of themselves through their work. I really appreciated this book because Amy lays it all out there for the reader and we get to see so much more than "Amy the Comic."

Maybe it's because I saw so much of myself in her while reading the book, but I really encourage people to read it, whether you're a fan or not. It's a poignant story of a woman who discusses her not-so-normal childhood, issues and people that are meaningful to her, her road to finding success, and of course sprinkled with plenty of hilarious anecdotes of her life and experiences. People need to chill out on the "vulgar," and "inappropriate," stuff she says in this book. That's not the point and again; see my note again about not pleasing people all the time. A good reader knows how to read a book and pick out the most important details in order to understand what they read. We learn that in elementary school.

I'm definitely a bigger fan and have a huge amount of respect and admiration for Amy. I can't imagine how tough it is to always be well...tough, in such an unforgiving and judgmental society. But underneath it all, she's just a person trying to tell her story, be understood, and get something meaningful out of her life. Read the book. You won't be disappointed.

Really, there's nothing better than an honest, intelligent, funny person. I appreciate her openness and her ability and willingness to say what needs to be said.

Was so much better than I expected! Even got a bit emotional a few times. It's raw, honest, unfiltered and relatable just like Amy is.

5 HUGE stars for this book. Smart, honest, hilarious, moving, brilliant, revealing, and overall amazing. I highly recommend this book to anyone, with only 2 exceptions. One for readers who want it to be ALL funny; Amy goes into serious topics about abuse, sickness, and emotional trauma. The other for readers who are uncomfortable with swearing & detailed sexual content - that should go without saying since Amy Schumer has always owned that about herself. I am SO glad I bought this to highlight, underline, and re-read when I need a laugh or to remind myself what a strong, smart, beautiful, capable woman I am :) Love her book. Love her show. Love HER.

As always when I read the memoirs/autobiographies of female comedians, I feel like we would be REALLY good friends IRL. If only I had grown up in New York and went to Temple with Amy... we would totally be best buds.

I laughed. I cried. It's got stories about her childhood, family, dating life, and career, with some fun lists and old journal entries sprinkled in. And then there are some serious and traumatic topics like guns, body image, and domestic violence. It's funny, real, inspiring, and sad. But funny too! It's just not as breezy as one might think. Sometimes a memoir can change my mind about my favorite celebs, but this book only solidified my love for Amy. I recommend the audiobook! I listened to it in a day.

wouldnt recommend listening to it.
still fun.
