I really liked this book but it was so long for no reason. Yeah we get it you are rich and you got familie issues but 200 pages?! fr it was so slow and long it bored me. But even after that i was still surprised by the end. It was great and after I read the end i was definitly pleased with the long middle. It made so much sense at the end. It was a great experience of anger, sadness, relief, grief and acceptance. I am writing this review 2 years after I read it because to this day I still recommend and think about this book. But take this review with a grain of salt because this is solely based on my opinion and my expirience.

Although I enjoyed the format of this book and the way this story was told. I actually found myself not caring very much for the characters. I read this book before watching the show, but still guessed the plot twist at the end. I found myself not being able to connect to the characters the way I think the author intended. H

I loved the writing more than I loved the plot or the characters. Going into the book, I already knew a little of the twist ending but what I didn't know didn't blow me away. I honestly was left wanting some more. Though back to the writing--it was gorgeous. I've never read anything by this author and after reading how beautiful and poetic her writing is, I will be looking into reading more from her in the future. I recommend this if you want a quick read for a readathon or a challenge. It can easily be read in 3 hours or less.

I really like the fast pace and the mystery. I even stayed up late to finish it in a day. I was really curious what happened.
And after I finished it, I went through the book again to see, if it made sense with knowing the ending.
I didnt guess the fire. I was really sad about the dogs. And after that shock wore off, I wasn’t surprised that they are the only ones who died. I saw that coming.
One time I thought the whole family might be ghosts.
And I liked the scene where Cady wonders about different endings of a situation.
3.5/5⭐️ from me nowadays.
