Let me be clear, I am not a fan of poetry because I struggle to read it like a poem. Though the writing form as always intrigued me.
The stars come from my pure enjoyment and the beautiful work I was able to read in this poetry collection.
A love letter written in poetry to one's younger self, thanking and forgiving them for all of their choices in life. Good or bad, wonderful and ugly. There is no judgement only acceptance.

Thoughts:
This was a great poetry book. As someone who had mental health struggles as a young teen and am working on healing after a few years, the poems written both as a struggling teen and years later trying to talk to her โlittle meโ show realism to me. Itโs refreshing to read both sides of the struggle back to back in a way and I think the alignment to show the rough time periods was unique and a great touch.
Favourite Quote:
"The scars of your soul cannot be ugly; your existence is a blessing, your body a holy place."

This book of poetry deals with some heavy topics. So although it's less than 200 pages, it took me a little while to read through the whole book. In these poems, Anastasia revisits poems written as a teenager, and then writes poem in response from her adult self to Little Me. I really liked this set up and you can definitely see how Anastasia has healed throughout her life.
I had a lot stick out to me in this book, but these are some of my favs.

I liked a few of these, though I do prefer rhyming poetry as a personal preference.
I did like the โat this ageโ and then โthis many years laterโ poems.

A very intense, highly emotional, raw & thought-provoking poetry. Some poems brought back memories I buried deep and hoped would never resurface. But the new parent that I am now is thankful for this experience.
I recommend for women of all ages. This collection takes you on a mental health journey... exploration if you will. I wish I could've read this sooner.
Thank you BookSirens and Anastasia. This review is of my own honest opinion.

The introduction to this anthology by Lincoln Der was astounding. It was such a heartfelt and beautiful way to introduce the collection and it made me excited for what was to come. I hoped the poems were as good as the introduction was and, thankfully, they were! There was some truly stunning writing in here. I found something I liked in almost every poem, whether it was an entire stanza, a phrase or a line, or even the whole poem! One thing I loved especially was the natural and world imagery, similes, and metaphors. I adored how the poet included the sky, the sun and the moon, the earth, and other things. They were all so gorgeous!
The distinction between 'Little Me' and who they are now was interesting by itself, but the poet sometimes referred to them both as "we" which I absolutely adored. They are different people, but yet the same. Two versions of one soul. It was interesting to analyse the format and layout in response to the two narrators throughout this collection. The experimentation with structure was really cool and executed really well. The choice between experimenting and conforming to classic, traditional poetry rules was really interesting overall, but especially interesting when it came to analyse who the narrator was: the younger or older self.

Help Me, I'm Here is exactly the book of poetry I wish that I would have had when I was going through my darkest moments. The poetry is beautifully written and the emotions are so recognizable. Everyone should go read this!
