Very accessible, but drawn from serious study. Fascinating. Roots of our instinctive social behaviour. Thoroughly enjoyable and entertaining.

This was really a fun read but it could have been a lot shorter - sometimes felt like it dragged on a bit

I need to reread this, but from my recollections - an entertaining and very informative view of the English from the point of view of an anthropologist. At one point she plans to spend an afternoon deliberately jostling people in a crowd to get their reactions but is so mortified that she has to cut her research short, while noting that hers is a very English reaction!

So hilarious and on-point! I recommend it to every English person, so as they can see how peculiar we really are, and to every non-English person to get a handle on how to handle us.

Writing was too academic for me
