I made it 66% through this book and couldn’t stand this insufferable main character any longer. IRL this MC for sure wears fedoras and says ma’lady, and throws fits when he doesn’t get his way. He also is the type who thinks he knows everything and that everyone needs to hear his opinions on every topic. Vomit. Becks, run girl! I actually hope a demon curses Jack to have to listen to himself talk for a thousand years at the end because he was a total douche.

Very solid paranormal thriller. I wouldn’t exactly call it scary, but there are certainly unsettling and disturbing scenes. Well paced with good characterization, and the humor of the tone helps it from becoming too too angsty. I felt that the twist was pretty obvious early on, but that didn’t lessen the enjoyment of the eventual reveal.

It's been a few hours since I finished this book and I'm still not entirely sure what happened... but I do know that I enjoyed the ride! I didn't find it scary, but there were certainly some big ole punches to the gut with genuinely funny elements of dark humour woven through. Jack may be a butthole but he is funny. A unique paranormal thriller that keeps you guessing til the end.
