This book is like a warm hug. Innocence is so beautifully portrait that it pulls at your heart strings in the best ways.
On top of that, the world is quite interesting and the setting is beautiful. The characters are lovable but complex.
Overall excellent.

This book is a positive representation of queer characters through a sweet story full of empathy for ourselves and others. And silly jokes by the children!
I learned of the controversy after I had finished it. I feel like everyone should go and read about it to educate ourselves on these tragic events.

It is NOT as cozy as I anticipated. In fact, there is a strong dystopian element to it.
Warming up to the main character took me over 100 pages; He reminded me of Percy Weasley.

This absolutely is like a warm hug.
A relatively lighthearted read with a surprisingly loveable corporate stooge, a generally mild-mannered father figure, a gaggle of children, and a fairy godmother of sorts.
This is something I could see being a new generation's Little Rascals/Harry Potter. Little bits of laughter, a fair bit of hope, and something I could see myself picking up to reread on a cold, dreary day.

An enjoyable middle fantasy romp through found family and anti-bureaucracy, with an elder gay flair. I must confess, compared to some of Klune's other books (chiefly Under the Whispering Door) this one was not as impactful or consequential to me. I sometimes feel that it is overhyped, but I still intend to read the sequel.

I absolutely adored reading this! This is a heartwarming story about found family and acceptance of people who are different from you. It is incredibly well written and tugs at the heartstrings a little.

A great little cozy read.
I will say, the cozy book is a little *too* cozy. The narrator loves to bash your head over and over with the message of the book, almost nothing unpleasant happens, but that isn't necessarily bad. While I cringed a little at some of the overwhelming cuteness, it was nice to fall back into a cozy sweet story for a little while. The characters are great and it was overall a nice time, even if I liked it a bit less when I re-read it.
