I had no idea how much I would love this series. Now I am so sad that it is over. I never saw the tv show. Maybe I will like that, too.

I am giving this book 4 stars. I enjoyed this book in the aspect that it was summing up Sookie's life and everything she has been through. I did feel that this book was a little blah compared to the other ones in the series. I enjoyed it and couldn't put it down easily. I felt it was blah because there wasn't as much drama between Sookie and the vampires. There was action and her life in danger but just not as intense.

I am glad I read the whole series and do plan to read the final book that reveals what happened after this book.

Took me 13 hours and staying up way after bed time, with work the next day even, but I finished Dead Ever After. I must admit I was expecting much worse, I am still disappointed, but the story itself was much better than the last few installments of the series. I am going to give it two stars.

If I was rating the story simply on who she ended up with and how Harris handled the ending of Sookie and Eric it would have been one star and a trip to the burn pile. But really most of the book had little to do with Sam, Sookie and Eric. Most of the story revolved around Sookie being framed for murder and a bunch of people trying to kill her. That part was actually pretty good, and reminded me of earlier books in the series. Sure some of the characters felt a little off at times, almost a mix of the book series and the tv series, but the plot moved along pretty swiftly and kept me reading into the wee hours of the morning. IF I was rating the book purely on that story line and disregarded the destruction of Eric and Sookie’s relationship I would have rated the book three stars. I can not forget what Harris did to my beloved Eric so that one star brings down the three star to settle on two stars for the last book in a once loved series. I really do feel that Harris tried her best, but I still wish Sookie could have rode off into her H.E.A with Eric. If I was to rate the series on a whole I again am torn between one and two stars. So much of the series revolved around Eric and Sookie that for her to NOT end up with him just plain sucks after reading 13 books and falling so hard for Eric...the ending is almost cruel to Eric fans.

Now to address Sookie ending up with Sam! What the Hell! I remember that Harris said a while ago that Sookie hadn’t yet met who her H.E.A was… So what is this crap of putting him with Sam, someone who has been there from chapter one of book one. I think this was really a cop-out, and I can not believe she paired them together. I’m sorry but I just don’t see the chemistry between them and the one sex scene was kind of ew at the end. To me Sam and Sookie had more of a brother/sister or cousins relationship, NOT a romantic one. I really don’t think that if we followed them further into the future that they will still be together. I just don’t see the fire between these two. It was awkward and didn’t feel right. I am so mad at what she did to Eric, he really got the short end of the stick in this story line. I believe he really loved Sookie and wanted to be with her, screw her not wanting to be a Vamp, I wish he would have gone ahead and just changed her. Eric was right Sookie never really gave their marriage a chance. My heart breaks a little of what Eric has lost and the life he is going to go on to live. He lost pretty much everything in the end. I can not forgive Harris for this and I will not be reading anymore of her books and I’m done with True Blood as well. I wish I could have stopped reading several books back and just have that memory of when things were good between Eric and Sookie, that is the Eric I wish to remember. Harris broke Eric and I think she did it on purpose to punish over zealous fans.

Like I said much of the story had nothing to do with Eric, Sookie and Sam and was actually pretty good. I did enjoy how the community seemed to finally rally around Sookie and supported her instead of condemning her. The last couple of books had been a struggle to read and at time quite boring this book had the feeling of earlier installments in the series. I think that most of the major story treads were wrapped up and everyone, except Eric, is going to live happily ever after. I was happy to see that Harris did not destroy the relationship between Sookie and all the vamps. Pam was made sherif and will continue to be in Sookie's life along with Bill.

In the end I am disappointed, not as much as I thought I would be, but still sad. I don’t agree with the pairing of Sam and Sookie and am angry over the fate of Eric. It once was a great series, but I don’t think I will be re-reading it again or picking up another Harris book, I’ve been burned and feel a little cheated for having stuck with the series to the bitter end. I’m just sorry that we had to part on such poor terms Ms. Harris, but I’m not going to trust you with my heart again. I loved your series and your characters and you broke my heart.

I thought the way it ended tied everything up nicely. I always expected her to end up with Sam, and would have found any other ending lackluster.

Meh...ended how I expected it to, but not how I wanted it to.

I'm torn. The mystery of who Sookie will end up with has been solved and it was exactly the person I was hoping for.
Eric, Bill - who cares? Give me Sam any day of the week. When given a choice, I will pick a shifter over a vampire any day of the week. Vampires are just too dang cold.

The book just felt anti-climatic. Eric was a jerk. People tried to kill Sookie. Blah blah blah. In the meantime, Sookie put lotion on her legs and drank a glass of water and sat on the couch and showered and looked out the window and did every other mundane thing regular people do (but don't usually want to read about.)

And I didn't get Sookie's obsession with other characters looks. I was just reading this book to see how the series ended. I really don't care two figs if a mother of baby twins has slightly overgrown eyebrows. And I certainly don't want to read about it.

Boo! This series started out so promising and ended in such a lame way.

I liked the way she ended the series, though I wish it wouldn't end i still felt like she ended it a great way and closed all the ends to the stories.

Just ok. Too much happening at the end and the ending seemed like a cop-out
