Very fun, well written account of the 2008 election from behind the scenes. If anyone has any interest in knowing the ins and outs of a campaign, and more about the crazy characters from that campaign cycle, I'd really recommend this.

I don't know how accurate this was - but wow, was it fascinating. I learned a lot about how presidential elections happen, the candidates real personalities, the media's role, etc. The complex story of complex people in a complex situation was woven together amazingly - great writers. I'll say it again - wow.

Juicy, profanity-laden, and positively riveting.

4.5 stars. What an interesting read about something I'm usually opposed to even get into on the news front. The author really made it feel like I was sitting in the room with these people, getting a fly on the wall perspective on the drama involved on the ridiculousness of these races. Gives me even more pause on our candidates--even when they seem like a good choice.

Political porn. Loved it.

A compelling, well-researched book about the 2008 election that was also a depressing reminder of the sad fact that money rules politics.

A great book about the 2008 presidential election. I thought it offered interesting insight into all the candidates during the primaries as well as the chosen VPs. I also thought it did an excellent job at presenting each candidate in an unbiased opinion and shed both positive and negative light on everyone.
It was also surprisingly funny. Well, I found McCain very funny. My favorite quote of the book: "During a rehearsal for the first GOP debate in 2007, O'Donnell pressed him on a question to the point where McCain finally snapped. 'John, what is the difference between a gay marriage and a civil union?' O'Donnell asked. McCain replied, 'I don't give a fuck.'"
Awesome.

It was fun to relive the campaign and see behind the curtain.

I found this book so immensely unputdownably readable, I can't say enough good about it!

Very well-written account of the 2008 election. Well-balanced, informative, and encompassing. You don't have to be a political junkie to enjoy this book.
