Fascinating, non-partisan look at the primary and general election campaigns from the last presidential election.

This book was really interesting and informative, examining the 2008 election in an almost novelistic way. It was a good read, but I really didn't like the strong language that was present on nearly every page. Had it not been required reading for a class, I might have put it down only for that reason.

This book proves my theory that of the TV shows portraying US national politics - West Wing, House of Cards, and Veep - Veep is the most realistic.

THe inside scoop on the 2008 election. Fascinating, but some of the political detail wore me down.

Really interesting book going over a pivotal point in recent American history which I was too young to remember. Highly recommend to anyway who wants to learn about the 2008 campaign from the primaries to the general election

Easy and engaging read that felt very superficial

Drags in a couple places, and I found myself wanting more on the GOP side of the drama (but understandable that you go with the access you've got), but the way try bring this national myth-sized story down to just a small cast of characters is amazing. Read this book, and then hunger for a similar treatment recapping every interesting campaign past and to-come. I'd live to see this kind of research and storytelling around the GOP primary madness of '12.

A great look at the details of what goes into making a presidential campaign for multiple perspectives, how a politician's character influences more than just government policies but also how a campaign runs, and how the hell something like Sarah Palin ever happened.

This wasn't what I was expecting... I was hoping for a close, in-depth look at Palin. But I would definitely recommend for people interested in how campaigns progress.

Having seen these 2 authors on Morning Joe well before the book, I wanted to read their book when it came out. It was so interesting, the insights into all the campaigns and drama. No matter what political party you belong to this is an interesting read.
