Great true story, well-told. Good reader but malpractice that he didn’t know how to pronounce most of the names!

really great book. At first, I thought it spent too much time on the Democratic nominees, but, in comparison, to the rather normal Republican nomination process, it made sense. I wish there had been a bit more analysis than just reportage. It seems that in the end, Obama won not only because of his message, but because he ran a more disciplined campaign that spent its money more better.

Fascinating look at the behind the scenes activities of all of the candidates in the last election...

Well...that was eye opening. I had no idea about all the behind the scenes stuff that goes on. It certainly affects how I view the current republican primaries.

Incredibly entertaining read, though for many politicos who have actually worked on a campaign, many of the details are probably not as surprising as they might be for the average person. There are really interesting behind-the-curtains look at all the candidates as well that provide "the story behind the newsclips"; however, in so many spots, I couldn't help but stop and say, "Wait! How could the authors even know that?!" I'm still not sure. I just suspended disbelief and went along for the ride, which was a page-turning, fun one.

Really great biography of the 2008 primary and general election. The authors make the story very interesting and it drew me in with every chapter. I only wish they had talked more about election night instead of skipping the night before to the morning after. Other than that, very detailed and a great read going into this election season!

I enjoy reading celebrity gossip columns online. This was like a whole book of gossip on political celebrities--lots of juicy behind-the-scenes stories from unnamed sources. It was very interesting and entertaining, but probably wouldn't be to someone who didn't follow politics much. One of the main perspectives I gained from reading this, besides the fact that many of those people really are batshit crazy, was how much is really decided behind closed doors, in secret meetings with small groups of wealthy or otherwise influential people, months before we actually vote. The whole campaign process is almost a farce, yet navigating it successfully is still necessary in our current system. And basically, Obama had one hell of a campaign team.

Interesting story, but it was nothing new. It did prove my theory all along: McCain couldn't grasp it all and he was in over his head with Palin.

I checked this out on a whim from the library and was pleasantly surprised with how much I enjoyed this account of the 2008 election. I'm not one to idolize politicians but I was still intrigued by how egomaniacal everyone involved seemed. There are some interesting behind the scenes accounts from the race that have helped shape my memory of how this election unfolded.
