Received from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

I didn't want to put this book down last night but my eyes refused to let me continue. The Day We Met tells the story of a family impacted by early-onset Alzheimer's Disease. I found the story compelling, hard to read at times and beautiful at other times. There was a bit of a twist I didn't see coming and I loved every minute of the reveal. This is one of those books that makes a person think about their relationships, themselves and mortality. Definitely want more from this author.

Very compelling, moving and funny. I had expected to weep at the end, but I didn't, but I still really enjoyed this and thought the characters were just about perfect.

The switching between different characters took time to adjust to, but It was a nice story coming full circle. I just feel that adding the Zach character was unnecessary. Caitlin could've been happy and complete on her own, he was so rushed into the story with everything happening so quickly, I guess it was mirroring how Clair and Greg met but still I felt it could have ended with Caitlin being happy on her own.

3.5 stars from me. Witty writing, but lacked some key character development.

Good characters, decent story but it felt like there was something missing. Things were a bit repetitive at times - literally the same lines rehashed just two pages over which made me feel a little bored and frustrated. A different little take on Alzheimer's.

This book brings us Claire. A strong independent woman. Raised her daughter Caitlin (20) alone for many years. Until she finally meets the love of her life in Greg. They marry and have a daughter together, Esther (3).

Sadly, then, Claire is diagnosed with Early Onset Alzheimers. Her father suffered through this. She and her mother both know what to expect. She grapples with what she knows is coming (and hopes is slow to come).

At first it's gradual. Then she slides faster down the slippery slope. She can't leave the house alone (although she sneaks off anyway). She knows she is "supposed to" love Greg. Yet she feels awkward and uncomfortable with him. He provides her with a "Memory Book" to help her with memories.

I like the "mystery man" addition, but won't give too much away with that.

This book is a well written account of dealing with Alzheimers and both the love and hope and the sadness and despair that come with it.

Thank you Netgalley & Random House/Ballentine for my ARC copy. It was my pleasure to read it and give you my honest review!

Wow, what can I say. If I could give this book more than 5 stars I would. It's like being on an emotional roller coaster as you read through the pages. Beautifully written and one of those books that you really get attached to the characters and don't want it to end.
