Fascinating idea...in 2004, Frank Warren printed 3,000 blank postcards with his name and address and an invitation to decorate them and share a secret with him anonymously. He left them on park benches, in art galleries, at libraries, and elsewhere. And then the whole thing went viral, as they say in the virtual world. I understand that, to date, he has received over 400,000 postcards from people wanting or needing to share their secrets anonymously. This book is his first, and includes reproductions of about 275 of the postcards he has received. Others followed.
Some of the secrets are funny, many are heartbreaking, a few are scary or crude, and others are thought-provoking. Most are evidence that often what people fear most is that others will know us for who we really are, and life as we know it will end. So, we keep secrets, and it is often painful to bear their burden. I suppose that Warren hit a more or less universal need of people to get out from under the weight of the secrets they don't share. This book is the result.

I love Post Secret-the books and the website! I have never seen Frank Warren speak, but I have heard stories about movinge events. In a world where everyone has a secret, I love that there is a place that you can let go of whatever it is that needs to be gone. Since it is near the New Year, I read a quote that talks about "letting go of things that do not serve you." Post secret is a place for that. It is also a place too though to know you are not alone. You can get through whatever you are going through!
This book made me laugh and cry. It was really a good look at people's thoughts.
Great, just like the blog! I hope those that write in can start healing :)
It's hard, basically impossible, to put PostSecret down once you've picked it up. Some of the confessions make you laugh, and some make you want to cry. My initial reaction was to find a friend and give her a hug. It kind of gives you a new perspective on life and makes you more inclined to be grateful.
I loved this book. Loved it. Wish I had thought of this idea myself.
“so many of my secrets are in there without sending a card”
A wonderful collection of humanity, our ugly, horrifying, beautiful, mundane, odd, relatable, lovely pieces. Very good collection - and I need more.
