I think of John Grisham's books, this was less appealing because there was less ethical tension within the main character's heart. The main character starts out as very appealing and sympathetic, but then stoops almost as low as the system which screwed him. If the character was given more facets and developed further, I would give this book more stars-the plot concept is very clever.
It was a decent read. Somehow, I knew what was next. So.
There for a good while, I didn't know what was going on. Then I did. And it was awesome!
First Grisham book i've read in a long time - it kept you interested and guessing throughout.
So this was a fairly quick read for me (especially after Vanity Fair!) and it started off fairly well, with someone wrongly imprisoned. However as the plot unraveled I kind of went off the guy, yes he wanted to get his own back on the Feds but I'm not sure he went the right way about it.

I really love the plot twist is! the judge Raymond Fawcett being murdered and FBI looking for the culprit is.. a former lawyer, malcolm who stayed in jail because he got sentenced with the crime he did not begin with give the clue who the culprit is to them.. he exchange the information with the requirement he will get freedom, new identity and witness safety from FBI.. here there are the story begin with..

After reading The Appeal, I picked this one up fairly cheap at a yard sale.
Grisham kept my interest throwing the whole novel with his suspense. The ending was also something that I was not expecting.
I look forward to reading more of his work.

Well I nearly didn’t finish this book, I got to almost half way through when I was about to give up. But I decided to read on and I am glad I did as the story does pick up. I think this is the first disappointing-ish read by John Grisham that I have read so far. I won’t be in a major hurry to read again unless I am in desperate need of something to read.
Aah, I enjoy a John Grisham novel. You always know what you're going to get and it's always fun. It's been a while since I read one, but this one seemed to be filled with even more twists and turns than the previous ones and I enjoyed it.
