I don't get all the hate the book gets in the reviews here. For me it was so cool! The plot, the pace, everything. Perhaps I didn't like the characters that much but I didn't feel that I actually need to like them in this kind of book to enjoy the story. For me it was all about the plot, the intricate plan that slowly becomes reality. I don't even care how far-fetched it is, I was hooked and that's what matters.
I finished the second half in one sitting, and honestly can't wait to start another one of Grisham's books.

Griasham seems to be returning to some semblance of form over the last couple of outings. This one is almost, but not quite, a return to his skill for plot and storytelling that made his first few books so beloved.
Not Grisham's best - very well written, but it perhaps needed a few more chapters to properly flesh things out. The main character changes a bit half-way through, and his overall plan is so complex that it raised an eyebrow on times...
But, despite this niggle, it's entertaining, very well written (Grisham's prose are always good), and enjoyable.

The book focuses on the loopholes in the justice system. This magnifies how one can bend the rules in his favor when careful planning is made. That is, a criminal today may be a free man tomorrow.
The plot was well thought of but it was a far fetched story for me to make it believable when taken into the current context of the society. However, when the governement is at play, no one can really say what the limit of their power is.

I am a huge John Grisham fan, having read almost all his books. I always find his work to be masterpiece. This however, I am so sorry to admit missed the mark. I felt it was overdone, no real plot/storyline and the characters were not fully developed. I am so sad to admit this because I am a huge fan of Grisham. Racketeer really wasn't my favorite read.
I don't typically like "courtroom dramas' but really enjoyed this. It was fast paced and well written
