Not that I loved it as literature, I did devour the fast paced story quickly and effortlessly, preferring reading to any other activity. Looking back, I'd rate it lower than I'd rate it mid-read. I HAD to know what happened next. A good page turner.
Not the best Grisham I've read, but a solid read. The first and second part of the books seemed totally disconnected, but it all come together in the third. Still seemed to go on at times and really didn't feel incredibly mysterious. I felt like, 'oh, he'll tie it all together sooner or later.' And he did. But yes, it's a Grisham novel and a decent enough read. Just not his best.
Had a bit of an Elmore Leonard-type twist that I quite enjoyed.
This book was only okay. It was not my favorite John Grisham book but I enjoyed it.
I haven't read Grisham in awhile because I haven't been impressed with his latest books. But I heard this one was much better and more along the lines of his earlier books (The Firm, The Rainmaker etc). And it got a glowing rec from my dad who gave me the copy after he read it.
It was a well-written, fast-paced novel that was great for 'easy' reading over Xmas break. I think the first 3/4 of the book was engrossing and while I wasn't completely surprised by the twist, it still made for an entertaining read. But the last 1/4 of the book seemed like a mad dash to clean up all the loose ends and it left me feeling disappointed...in the story, in the characters, and in grisham.

After reading this book I would conclude I'm not a John Grisham fan. I found the writing predictable (though in fairness the plot was not) and rather boring. Perhaps I read the wrong book by which to judge him but at this point I don't plan on picking up another.
Predictable, boring. He's just writing subpar movie screenplays anymore.
This was my first Grisham audiobook, and certainly not my last!
