Realizing how much the show actually differs from the books and sorry to say, I think I like the show's inclusion of the supporting cast instead of Sookie doing every last thing.

i'm a sucker for these things! schlocky but fun!

I adore Eric northman. He slays me. A vamp with a sense of humor

I'm wondering if my love for the show has skewed my appreciation of the books. But in my opinion, simply the structure of this book was dismal. The book begins with the set up of the Maenad plot, only to drop it and cut to Dallas, for that to end abruptly and then back to the Maenad where we haven't had any plot development and then the book is over. Neither plots are tied to each other in any way, and most the characters and relationships seem completely devoid of actual emotion. And this may be harsh, but I think there was more character development in Twilight.

Sometimes a little sexist (I have to remind myself this was written like 20 years ago) but I like the mystery, and I like these vampires

Cute book.
