I really really enjoyed this book and Noah and Fisher’s story!
The characters had me hooked from the beginning honestly, with Fisher’s back story, him and Noah meeting, and Fisher’s strained relationship with his son. I was really interested to see how everything played out!
Noah and Fisher honestly have a cute relationship, it almost gave insta-lust/love. While they knew they shouldn’t be together because of the circumstances, they couldn’t stay away from each other! They both really care and love each other and Noah helped heal some old wounds Fisher had! I was also happy to see Fisher and Jase’s relationship improve!
I loved all of the characters too! The suspense was built up minimally throughout the book, but it picked up in the second act, and I enjoyed it!
Would definitely recommend this! 🤍
This book was really easy to get into
- Small Town Romance
- Cowboy Romance
- Forbidden Romance
- Ex Boyfriend’s Dad
- Age Gap
- Some Suspense
'i read another cowboy book today and there were more murderers'
My daughter recently passed and this book i got through, but for now cannot continue with the series as the next book has a pregnancy trope.

The prologue took me by surprise with how emotional it was and from that point on I was hooked. I loved Fisher and Noah. They were great together and they had such a strong relationship, which is mainly due to how honest they were with each other all the way through. You didn't notice the age gap, unless him being her ex's dad got brought up but even then it was like an oh yeah he is twice her age. I was fine with the third act break up because of how well they communicated and it worked out nicely. Just like with the novella that start this series, this did have one far fetched story line which was a bit like woah. Also I feel like I wanted more from Fisher dealing with Jase (his son) and what he went through as I feel like we only went surface level with it in many ways. These are only me being picky because I truly had the best time and kept on thinking about when the next time I could pick it up would be.
Graphic: Sexual content
Minor: Animal cruelty, Child death, Death, Suicidal thoughts, Suicide, Grief, Suicide attempt, Fire/Fire injury, Abandonment, Injury/Injury detail
The animal cruelty does not end with animals being severely hurt more like they would have been hurt as a result of someones actions who was mainly trying to hurt a person. Fire and injury are connected to those incidents with the animals. One of the main characters lost a child before the main setting of the book but the prologue shows the suicide attempt of the character because of their grief (author says you can skip if it is a trigger) but it does get mentioned again and throughout the book as they deal with it. However, outside the prologue, nothing is on page or in too much detail.
Brooke does it again. Yes I read these books out of order ha! I got an ARC for book 3, then started book 1 and about 50 pages in got an ARC of book 4, so put it down to read that and then came back to this.
Although you can read these in any order, I would highly recommend reading them in series order to get the full effect of the family and exactly what's going on with all the characters. They're all very heavily interwoven in each others stories.
I loved this one, forbidden romance, close proximity, one night stand, ex-boyfriends dad and a whole bunch of trauma. It was such a beautiful, incredible story. I will say, check your triggers before going into this. Brooke is great at popping them in the front of her books. But I adored this. I've loved Noah since I first picked up book 3 and I'm so glad I now finished her story. Just books 2 and the prequel to go which I'm hoping to get to before book 5 comes out HA!

Spoilers:
This book was fun. I love a cowboy romance and this didn't disappoint. This is kinda an aside, but there was a map at the beginning that detailed the entire ranch/resort of it all and I really liked that to visualize where everything was.

Noah's family owns Sugarland Creek Ranch as a horse trainer. At the rodeo she meets this older guy Fisher and they immediately hit it off if you know what I mean. Cut to the next morning, when looking at his ID, Noah realizes that Fisher is actually her ex-boyfriends dad. You also have to understand that Fisher and his son do not have a good relationship. He didn't know who his son was going out with because he was so messed up about his daughter dying when she was young that he was in mental hospitals and then travelled for work. Basically he wasn't around.
Fisher then gets a job at Sugarland Creek Ranch and obviously the last thing that Noah and Fisher want to do is not be together but they decide that they don't really have a choice. The entire book is kinda just them dealing with the situation of Noah's ex being Fisher's son and what the repercussions could be like. It kinda reminded me of The Eden's series because this big family lived on this ranch together and they always got together to have dinner and just messed with each other.
There is this side plot of these guys messing with the Ranch and harming the horses and stuff. Noah ends up getting hurt because a horse sees a snake and freaks out. Fisher then spends the rest of the time taking care of her and sitting outside her house at night to make sure that no one is messing with her. Then, I think it was Ian, causes a fire in the barn and Fisher goes in to save all the horses and almost dies and that is when they decided that they need to be together forever. They tell Fisher's son and he doesn't care at all which is kinda crazy cause you would think that he would. It ends with them living happily ever after. Overall, it was good, very small town romance which I loved. I thought that there were too many Taylor Swift references even for my liking though. But in general I had a good time while reading it. A 22 and 44 year old in a relationship though is crazy.

This book is like the country version of birthday girl and not in a good way. The “southern drawl” is the dialogue became old fast, and the writing was lacklustre to say the least. Won’t be finishing this series.
