Y'all... this one was SO good! Honestly, I wasn't sure what to expect with this one when I started since I haven't read many books with some of the tropes included, but Brooke DID NOT disappoint! I did not want to put this one down.
I thoroughly enjoyed the suspense elements intertwined with the romance in this one, as well as the introductions to everyone on the ranch. I absolutely fell in love with the characters in this one, and getting to learn Fisher's backstory alongside Noah (even though it made me cry) was such a beautiful moment. I seriously cannot get enough of those two.
I also appreciate the family dynamic that the Hollis family has, and how found family is such a big thing for them. The love and support that they all show one another (in their own ways) is such a wonderful thing, and I'm so happy to read about such a supportive and caring group of people. I'm literally so excited for the rest of their stories (and already have my hands on Stay with Me!), and I honestly can't wait to spend more time with the crew in Sugarland Creek.

Noah and Fisher were wonderful characters! They had great chemistry and wonderful banter between them! Their scenes together were on fire!!
Noah and Fisher meet at a rodeo and one thing leads to another which leads to getting caught by a member of the security team afterwards. Their second meeting does not go as well as the first, but is waaaaay funnier! Because who wouldn’t be shocked that their one night stand works at the family ranch and is their ex’s dad.
Noah is a hard working character both on her family’s ranch and her job as a horse trainer. She wasn’t looking for a relationship with her ex’s dad, but hey, things happen. She’s a wonderful character with a lot of heart and a lot of drive and excellent true crime tastes!
Fisher is on a path to redemption with his son and not have a relationship with a woman half his age. Much less with his son’s ex. Fisher is doing his best to have a relationship and connect with his son and I loved the character growth for both him and Jace.
The secondary characters almost steal the show in some of their scenes (mostly Magnolia, but some of Noah’s brothers, too)! Magnolia is the perfect best friend! She’s supportive of Noah and is on board with her and Fisher’s relationship!! Noah’s brothers…I’m eagerly awaiting the women who put them in their place.
There is plenty of steam, 20 plus year age gap, swearing, mild violence, and light suspense elements to the story.
CW: Suicidal thoughts and actions (skip the prologue if needed), loss of a child (in the past), and mild violence (nothing explicit).
There is a prequel that can be enjoyed before this story. It’s not needed to be enjoyed to understand this story, but it is a fun (and steamy!! With a touch of suspense) story that wonderfully introduces Sugarland Creek.
I loved the narrators!! They both did a fantastic job!! Each got into character and gave both Noah and Fisher the perfect voices and personalities. I liked the Southern tinge to the voices, it wasn’t too strong to misunderstand the plot, and helped me get into the story, and really embodied the characters. I listened at 1.3x speed. It is dual narrated, and each narrator narrated the entire chapter of the character’s perspective.

I have a weakness for a good Age Gap and Ex Boyfriends Dad and this book did not disappoint!!! The tension and banter between them was so good. Noah is my favorite character that I’ve read in awhile, she was so funny and Fisher was the perfect match for her. I can’t wait for the rest of this series! I’m already so locked in for Magnolia and Tripp!

Small town romance for the win! I’m obsessed! This was an easy 5 star read for me. Age gap can be super controversial in books but this was done SO well! I absolutely loved Noah & Fisher from the moment they met at the rodeo to him coming to work on the ranch & the two going through everything & figuring their relationship out.
I really loved the depth & dynamic of their relationship & how they handled every obstacle they faced. I have a feeling the Sugarland creek series is going to be my newest small town obsession!

It was cute, but it took me a while to get into the story and the age difference just wasn't for me. The pace picked up in the second half of the story, but this one just wasn't my favorite. Here's to the next one in the series!
