Has a more straightforward plot arc than The Colour of Magic, which I enjoy. We’ve also abandoned the structure of breaking the book into Parts. Side characters are more memorable and stick with our heroes for longer. Cohen and Beth-Ann were highlights.

Pratchett really comes into his own here, no longer relying on just parodying fantasy tropes (though there is that too), he makes something of his own from the absurd ideas introduced in the first book.
