Plus a star for an amazing and creative story. I was enthralled by the mythology and creationism stories. Minus a star for the writing, not my style and too in her head. Show me, don't tell me. But beautiful nonetheless and would definitely recommend.
Tem bastante romance, mas não acho ruim não, a história é muito bem construída assim como o mundo, motivações dos personagens são bastante fortes o que faz com que a protagonista tenha que tomar muitas decisões difíceis

a dreamy read with some really lovely Chinese mythology that sparked my interest from the start
I enjoyed this, and intend to read the next in the series although it wasn't something I felt I needed to pick up right away.
I loved the mythology and characters. I think what made this less than a 4 star book was the pacing; a LOT happens in this and there are some time periods it would have been nice to explore a little further

was this well written? no. was it predictable? yes. did I like any of the characters? no. But was I highly entertained? yes. Brainless rating of enjoyment is 4.5 but critical thinking rating is 2.5
It had a great story but the execution wasn’t there. The emotional scenes didn’t elicit any different feelings than the fight scenes. The details weren’t there to really carry out the scenes. It was bland. That’s a shame because the mythology aspects were intriguing.

"I had always thought life was a road, twisting and turning with the vagaries of fate. Luck and opportunity, gifts beyond our control. As I gazed across the endless night, it dawned on me then, that our paths were forged from the choices we made. Whether to reach for an opportunity or to let it pass by. To be swept up with change or hold your ground."
Daughter of the Moon Goddess by Sue Lynn Tan is an epic fantasy that follows Xingyin, the daughter of the Moon Goddess, Chang'e, as she is forced to flee to the Celestial Kingdom after her magic flares and the secret of her existence is almost discovered. Once there, she vows to find a way to free her mother from being exiled by the Celestial Emperor. She jumps on the chance to learn alongside the Emperor's son and end grows to become on of the best archers in the kingdom. Being the best archer she goes on multiple dangerous quests and eventually strikes a bargain with the Emperor himself to free her other once and for all.
This book is now the bar for fantasy and romance for me. This was beautifully written, it was captivating and intoxicating. I struggled to put it down and then was sad when I finished it.
The world building was perfect, it was descriptive and I could easily picture everything. It actually had me going back and looking at the map, which is big for me because I am the type of reader to completely forget about the map once I am into the story (it is something that I am actively working on I promise).
There is so much packed into this novel that I think if it was written by anyone else I would've found it too much, but Sue Lynn Tan somehow manages to make it work and flow seamlessly.
I enjoyed the romance portion of the novel as well. It didn't feel silly or overdone and it fit nicely with the story.
I highly recommend this novel to fantasy readers and I cannot wait to pick up the second in the duology.

world building was awesome. super fun and fantastical. but ngl the worst trope ever is having a love triangle but this was okay i guess but the story severely suffered from having one of the love interests turn out to be the bad guy like if you’re gonna do a love triangle commit to it 100%
