Very clunky read. The plot is standard which isn’t bad when you’re looking for a sports contemporary romance, but the tools used to move it forward are bad. It’s overall a jarring timeline with a mix of at the same time and moving forward for the dual POV. The trigger warning should be far more extensive and up front on the audiobook. The characters weren’t especially lovable or fleshed out - it felt like they were given back stories and side quests without appropriate handling.

I can't tell if the writing or the narrators were responsible for how hard it was to enjoy this book. If you do listen to the audiobook, be prepared for both the FMC's and MMC's voices to remain at a monotone the entire time. It made it so every new plot point felt dry and stale. I was mostly listening to get through to the end until the
championship game where he throws it and actually admits it and her response is to essentially ghost him
by that point it turned to rage listening because why would anyone think anything through or try and formulate a plan or I don't know talk and have an honest conversation with each other.

Enjoyable read- reminds me of Elle Kennedy. Definitely going to read another one.

This book was cute, but it felt more like a high school romance, than college. Picture a retelling of Disney’s A Cinderella Story & you basically have this book. It definitely has it swoon worthy moments & James deserves the whole freakin world.

Looking forward to Cooper & Seb’s book, because that moment with Seb was actually beautiful.

Okay, so, to premise - I’m a certified 3rd act breakup hater.

Sometimes I don’t mind it, if it truly makes sense for the plot.

This fucking didn’t. I can’t. I truly can’t. These main characters are pissing me off.

He threw a CHAMPIONSHIP for her. Which first - So stupid. So fucking stupid. It pulled me fully out of the story because NO ONE would do that. That was absolute nonsense.

Her response though?
lEt’S bReAKuP! 🤪🤨

Because she didn’t want him putting her first???????!?!?

Also like….As someone with a dad who took off, and then raised by a single abusive mother.

I would NEVER put my mother’s wishes/dreams above my own. Exactly why I took off at 18 and never turned back. So as someone who grew up in a somewhat similar situation? Shit was so unbelievable. Yea, I get everyone has different reactions to abuse/trauma especially when you have people pleasing tendencies…The “woe is me I have nOoOoOo choice in my life”. Girl. Please.

Lol I dunno - This was nothing special to begin with. Cute and fluffy I guess. And then by 86% I was so close to DNFing, but I was so far into it I just had to finish it.

Then I tried to read the epilogue….But Bex getting MAD about his sign on bonus?!?!?! Nah. Nah I’m done. lol girl you’re set for life and mad he didn’t tell you the amount. She’s so whiny and weird. Learn how to be a little grateful.

I think I just need to stop reading college romances yall. They be pissing me off.

I have too many other books I wanna read, so I doubt I’ll read anymore in this series.

3.8 ☆’s rounded up. An easy read and was cute but not my fav sports romance book/series.

I’m conflicted about this. I mean it was enjoyable enough to read and I liked that
James and Becks didn’t tiptoe around their attraction and it was not some kind of big miscommunication
Still, it’s something I probably won’t think back on. And the writing wasn’t really for me. Even right at the beginning it felt like a game of how many times you can sneak in the word tits until it gets ridiculous (pretty fast).
And don’t even get me started on the spicy scenes. Mind you, I was listening to the audiobook. You should’ve seen my face during some of the sex sequences. ‚Cream yourself‘, ‚kneading tits‘, ‚fucking into her with all the power of his body‘ (several times) comes to mind. Lastly, I can’t get over the fact that a supposedly major in mathematics is not able to change a ringtone because he isn’t tech savvy? Yeah, I think I’m with the dean on this one.
