The idea of this book was good, I just don't think it was done very well. I guess you could say it was accurate because it felt like it was written by a high schooler, very immature characters. So much back and forth and "we need to talk" 's. Beth was annoying. I think Jeff's character could have been done better. So much could have been done better.

I felt like the story was a little rush and incomplete. There wasn't a sense of justice, yes I know justice doesn't always happen in the real-world, but it should in this sort of book. The violent climax, which you saw coming a mile away, was pretty short and anti climatic. Also the time frame was suddenly forgotten ie 1 hour until x, 10 minutes are noted to have passed, scene that could not have been more than 15 minutes, x occurs. X shouldn't be there and is completely outside the realm of the character's reality that x is. Similarly the scene after x occurs is just too much of a script flip. Then you literally just get a and they lived happily ever after. Like, um, no. There should have been a lot of fall out addressed, also you know the justice that didn't happen, and then actually give us somehow the happy. It's really like a 3.5 or a 3 the more I think about it. I was excited for this but now I'm just disappointed.

The kind of book you miss your bus stop for

It’s so easy to immerse yourself into this book, you feel everything Beth feels; laugh with her, cry with her and feel her anger also. Such a good read ❤️

3.5 stars.

This was a quick, easy read that deals with some heavy topics, like grief. However, the story is utterly unrealistic, and while I was able to overlook that for the most part, some of this book was so over the top it bordered on ridiculous. Beth's friends are horrid, her parents are overbearing to the point of being a caricature, her sister's ex-boyfriend sets off major red flags that are ignored most of the book, and Beth herself is spoiled, rude, and takes a long time to grow on the reader. The one character I truly did enjoy was Chase; I liked his "one small thing" mantra, as that's something that anyone can relate to, especially when things are hard. Still, this was enjoyable enough, the audio was well done, and I'm glad I gave it a read, even if it doesn't hold a candle imo to the Royals series.

I picked out this book because I thought the cover was really pretty and the summary was really interesting. Not true. Just reading the first chapter I disliked Beth and Absolutely hated her parents. Not just them, but all the characters in the book were extremely unlikable.

Not gonna lie, I thought the romance between Beth and Chase was very stupid and I didn't get it. Also how did she not recognize him? I know it had been only about to years but he couldn't have changed that much. That fact that they knew each other for about thirty minutes and she suddenly just says "You wanna kiss me?" made me face palm...many times. Best part, she finds out the guy she just gave her V card to murdered her sister. I died laughing. Not because it was funny, but because of course that the one guy she chooses to hook up with is a murder, not only that but murder her sister.

There is no possible way that parents could be that over protective over their daughter. Let alone take a door off its hinges. That is just over obsessive. I know that they're grieving and just trying to keep Beth safe, but there is a line that you shouldn't cross and they're already a good couple of miles past that line. "You snuck out. We can't trust you. We quite your jobs for you, are taking away your car, and get this, we are also taking your door away!" Great parents am I right? The fact that they also won't talk about what happen also makes me dislike them more.

I knew Jeff was creepy from the start and also would try something on Beth. You could definitely see it coming from a mile away.

I never got why Beth keep trying to talk to Chase. I didn't make sense. She was so desperate to that she had to say I'm late to get him to come over to her house. Also, why her house of all places?! Her parents would probably shot him if the saw him near her.

«Devo rientrare», gli dico a malincuore.
«Sì.» Non accenna ad andarsene però.
Mi allontano camminando all’indietro, per paura che, se distolgo lo sguardo, lui si rintani nel suo guscio di senso di colpa.
«Qual è la tua unica, piccola cosa per oggi?» gli chiedo, mentre attraverso il giardino.
«Tu.»
