Penelope has my heart. Colin is my favorite Bridgerton. Their story is just beautiful. Friends-to-lovers rules too!
It was funny, it had so much Bridgerton banter that I spent half the book laughing.
It was sexy. Seriously, the hottest of the series so far, in my opinion. I mean, the constant reassurance and active participation of both lovers just made it SO HOT!
It was lovely and inspiring and that announcement scene with the clapping and the empowerment was ✨️chef's kiss✨️
It's so weird, I feel like I may want to take a break from the Bridgerton family for a bit. But it's mostly because nothing can top this book, seriously my favorite so far.

This is the first of the Bridgerton books I’ve read, although I’ve watched the show in its entirety. As one would expect, a fair amount is changed between the books and the show. I do like the show better, but that’s besides the point and the book was still entertaining.
Colin though…oh my goodness. The way he would refuse to listen to Penelope throughout the book, the way he got so angry and treated her badly (especially when he found out that
Him making the decision about
It’s a fine book for light reading.

I also enjoyed this more because it felt like there were real stakes. For the first time I felt the tension of these society members, which seems silly in 2024, but I was upset for Penelope when she was in danger of being found out.
The downsides are 1) I didn’t get all the groveling I wanted from Colin, 2) Violet takes a big backseat role, and 3) I don’t think Penelope’s mother atoned for overlooking her. And I could have used more Lady Danbury because her dynamic with Penelope was excellent, but that’s just wishful thinking on my part.

I was kind of disappointed. I enjoyed Colin’s character in others except in his own book.
The anger, manhandling, temper ain’t it.
The chemistry was there but barely. P loves C for so long, but C’s “infatuation” for P wasn’t there. There is no development.
I did enjoy some of the romance crumbs and Eloise and Colin’s bantering. True meaning of siblings.
And why tf is Colin always hungry..?!
I don’t think I read the mirror scene as many Bridgeton series fan are anticipating… or many I blanked out…
There was nothing more depressing than an ugly girl with no personality.
And in that first vear on the marriage mart, that was exactly what Penelope was. An ugly girl with no oh, very well, she had to give herself some credit-with very little personality.
Deep inside, she knew who she was, and that person was smart and kind and often even funny, but somehow her personality always got lost somewhere between her heart and her mouth, and she found herself saying the wrong thing or, more often, nothing at all.
