I believe with the amount of spicy scenes if they were reduced even in half there would be only one book instead of two. Anyway, I expected a little bit more growth from the heroine in this book. And also a little bit more plot.

Anticlimactic. Could've really went for the angst but missed an opportunity.
This. Book. Slaps.
I swear Nicci laces her books with something because I can’t seem to put them down once I start them. Literally the only reason I didn’t just devour this in one day and stay up all night is because Nicci told me to go to sleep
I don’t know where to begin with these two. I’ve known for a while that Clay is my favorite of the Butcher boys but this only solidified that for me. Not only do we see him start to soften more for Fawn but all the realizations he goes through and literally everything he does just to see her smile, it’s beyond.
But not just him, Fawn grows in her own strength and in her own skin. Seeing her coming to terms with all the trauma, and it’s a lot, and coming out the other side, not fixed but more whole, has been a beautiful journey to watch her grow through.
Xander’s story is going to be a bittersweet ending for this series

I mostly like the way this played out. For me I just needed more at the ending. I wanted to actually see it come to fruition. I saw that she’s writing a ten chapters extended epilogue and I’m excited for that.
The other thing that got me was big climax between the Cosa Nostra and Dustin (Fawns father) was pretty anticlimactic, don’t get me wrong- it was pretty gory lol I was just expecting more.

Perfection
The perfect ending for these two.
I am normally a hard np when it comes to books that feature infidelity in a marriage and yet, Clay and Fawn are clearly the perfect match! It felt more like his marriage was wrong and not their relationship.
It wasn't an easy route but they got their happily ever after!

I wanted to read this because books 1-3 were not great but like not the worst ever and I was mildly committed to the storyline - plus I was so excited to find books set in Australia, where I live.
I’m kinda open to the idea that maybe this wasn’t written terribly and maybe it just wasn’t my thing but please believe me when I say that La Croix has more flavour than this book has a plot.
If you don’t care about plot at all and you’re into old men doing butt stuff with teenagers, this is the book for you.
If you’re reading it, like me, because you liked Max and Cassidy or Bronson and Shosh, this probably won’t do it for you.
