Raw emotion overload
This is the second book in Fawn and Clay's story. There was so much raw emotion from Fawn, from the Butcher brothers and from Clay. It was gut-wrenching and all-consuming.
I read on Kindle and read along on Audible. The emotion Shane East and Sofia Lette put into every scene was amazing.

It was dark. Oh God, I can't stand with it. I mean who kills her own fricking mother. That could have been changed and I don't like that thing. I do not even love the couple due to the age gap. Also I was not able to connect to Clay as much I connected with other boys because his POV was very less. I don't like the book except smut.
Listen, I do not do surprise pregnancy, secret pregnancy, any damn pregnancy in my romance books tbh-to each their own but I don't even wanna be pregnant in real life, much less read about it in the books that I read to escape reality. So, when I tell you that it worked for me in this one, that is not something I'd easily admit! Clay and Fawn's relationship is just so all-consuming, that it only makes sense for it to happen for them.
I'm honestly a little scared that the other books in the series won't live up to their story, since I started with books 4 & 5, but I'm willing to give them a shot because Nicci's writing is just so perfect for my personal taste in mafia romance. If you love the smut and sexiness of the Mafia Mistress series by Mila Finelli and the rich storytelling of Neva Altaj's Perfectly Imperfect series, I think you'll enjoy Nicci Harris's writing style and this duet in particular. Highly recommend!!

I must say not ass bad as His Pretty Little Burden but still gag worthy. Fawn is 2 different characters. A bad ass woman who yells fuck everywhere and a woman who cant make any decisions on her own. There is no plot line, things just happen randomly.
We catch up with Clay and Fawn in book two of their story. You need to read book one before this, otherwise you will have no idea what is happening.
Clay is a dominant, it’s clear as day. He hides his emotions away from everyone, even his little deer, Fawn.
Fawn is innocent, sweet, kind, naive, and loves to do anything for her sir, Clay.
Clay is a married man, but this was an arranged marriage with zero connection romantically between the pair. He is settled into the fact that he would never be married because of love, he knew his obligations to the Cosa Nostra from a young age, he was raised by it after all.
Now Clay is seeking vengeance on the one man who has tried to tear his family apart, someone who has tried to steal what is now his.
We follow Clay and Fawn as Clay plots his revenge with brothers, Max, Bronson and Xander. He knows the final kill will be Max’s after what happened with Max’s Cassidy.
Clay also has to come to head with the feelings he is beginning to have for his little deer. Will he let her in? Or will he keep her at an arms length?
Fawn is struggling to handle the idea of her being ‘his little secret’ which is how she feels in her head, because Clay has wife. Despite Clay telling her that she is his queen and nothing less. Fawn has to deal with her own battles over the fact that her father is the reason for all of this, and that the man she loves is plotting his demise.
Nicci’s writing is impeccable and I wouldn’t expect anything less. For me, Clay is not my favourite butcher. I struggled to connect with him and Fawn. But I think that’s how it is meant to be. They aren’t a standard couple with lovey dovey stars around. They have boundaries which are in place for each other. Fawn knows that Clay is her sir, and Fawn is Clay’s good girl.
If Clay was more gentle, he wouldn’t be the dom that he is meant to be.
This was still a five star read for me, but I’m still team Bronson
