I read the first book in this series of novellas way back in 2018, and though I needed a little bit of a refresher, I picked it up fine and had a fun time with the sequel. This is the kind of writing/style that might not have swayed me either way, but the premise and characters are unique enough to make you sit up and take notice. The series is about a catering business for the supernatural community, and the team of people who procure the special ingredients and another team who cooks them. This time, they're catering a wedding, and of course, things so wrong and wacky stuff ensues. Actually, it's pretty serious, but written in an overall humorous way that at least didn't feel offensive. I know I can be annoyingly mercurial in my thoughts about this, but this is one of those books that does omniscient POV and... I don't hate it! Don't ask me why it fits here; it just does. A lot of the characters are fun, and some of the interpersonal relationships get some development. The bonus short story, which I'd already read before, was also interesting, if rather bleaker than I wanted.

Listened to the audiobook as read by Corey Gagne; it was a good time. It's really up in the air whether or not I'll ever move along in the series, but I'm sure if I do, I'll probably enjoy it.

Content warnings:
Spoilerdrugging, attempted rape, cannibalism (sorta)

Another quick and savory adventure in the Sin du Jour world. An unexpected change to a recipe leads to a party to remember. Also there is a heavily implied presence of David Bowie as a prominent figure in the story. I had a great time with this and the story continues to expand both on the cooks and Ritters team. I am excited for further culinary adventures.

In writing the Sin du Jour series author Matt Wallace has taken the best bits of celebrity-chef-culture, modern fantasy tropes, and a bit of noir and thrown them together with fast-paced, straightforward narrative to make fun, easily digested stories that go down a treat.

The second book in the series, Lustlocked, finds the crew of Sin du Jour catering a wedding between a Goblin prince and a mortal woman. Naturally, mayhem ensues and soon the heroes and anti-heroes find themselves battling strange creatures amidst a library full of celebrities and a magical kitchen. It's a lot of fun. Highly recommended.

3 stars. Another fast and fun read in the Sin du Jour series, but not quite as sparkling as book 1.

Not as good as the first one, but still had the occasional funny moments. Very short, only three-quarters of the novel was this story, the rest was a short story based within the same universe. A few plot holes I can think of, and light on substance, but that said I will likely read book 3 in the series.

Absolutely loved his take on goblins. Well paced, hilarious and witty as always. It really plays as a movie in my head - I hope they bring it to life someday!
