Briar Prescott, I love you.
I love her writing so much, I loved the Until You series, where both books where a little more angsty, but this one was wonderfully soft.
Practice lovers is really not my thing, but I have it a try anyway and this was lovely. Both Andy and Law were adorable, I love how Law especially subverts the closeted athlete trope. He was just a ball of softness. Andy is adorable, I love his sarcastic streak and his development. The trust and friendship between them is precious. I thought Law got attracted a liiil too fast, I might have liked for him to realise he wanted Andy a bit later but also: he liked Andy right away, told him he was perfect and didn’t need to change to be just that.
I thought that Falcon was a little distant as a friend and not super perceptive to have Andy hang out with their high school gang Andy is obviously not super comfy with, but the way he reacts at the end balances that out that was great actually.
Anyway, Andy and Law soulmates and the read was lovely.

That incredibly awkward moment when you start reading a book entirely thinking it was a different book because you were confused by the cover, but then realize you aren’t a quitter.
Project Hero is a bit paint by the numbers in terms of the misunderstandings both main characters fall into, but Andy’s quirkiness and the wonderful scenes with his family move this up a notch. I only wish we spent more time there. Still, nicely done.

This is all I wanted and more. Everything I love about reading. This is my happy place. ♾️.

“Game on, Andy Carter. Game on.” // “He lifts his head and scrunches his nose, and I’m caught unawares by how adorable it looks.” // “Of course you haven’t. You’re an athlete. You guys hate things that make you feel good.” - “Not all good things.” // “That just means I like you best.” // “All I’m saying is, don’t compare yourself to others.” // “Before I can think better of it, I run my finger over it.” (!!!) // “You could teach me.” // “Law Anderson likes to cuddle.” // “You’re stuck with me ’til the bitter end.” // “…what I feel for Law is like a cold shower early in the morning—impossible not to notice and it eventually makes you feel so damn alive.” // “He looks at you the same way, you know?” // “Anyway, the point is that, yeah, there’s love. Inside me.” // “…but the home thing? That’s all you. You’re my home.”

This story is so cute! It made me laugh a few times super loud and it ended with a super sweet epilogue that I just can't get enough of.
When I first started reading it I thought it was going to take the path most travelled with stories like this - where the best friend he thinks he loves gets jealous and wants him only because he starts to show interest in someone else, but it didn't go that route and it wasn't the expected storyline I thought it would be, which was a pleasant surprise. The romance is good and the smut is decent, not a lot of it though. I would recommend to anyone who enjoys MM.

Briar Prescott is a new author and for a first book, this one is impressive. I enjoyed reading about Andy, who is brilliant, funny, and memorable but thinks he's a typical nerd who isn't on the radar of anyone. When Law, a hockey coach who needs to get his players eligible to play next season, seeks out Andy as a tutor for them. But what starts out as a quid pro quo turns into a solid friendship. Their solid friendship then becomes more.
I absolutely loved this book. Andy is so funny and when he meets Law, who he thinks is a typical jock, he doesn't want anything to do with him. He also thinks he's in love with his childhood best friend. And when his friend goes back home for the summer, Andy thinks it's the perfect time to become someone his friend can fall in love with. But Law throws a wrench in things as they get along so well.
This is a great read full of quips and a solid relationship between opposites. I absolutely loved it and highly recommend this book. I can't wait for more from this author!!

Andy is tired of being the sidekick in life -- he’s determined to become the hero and get the guy. But, he’s going to need a little (or a lot) of help with that. Help comes in the form of a hockey loving hottie named Law who is maybe the first person ever to truly see Andy for who he is. But, will Andy get the guy he’s been dreaming about or has his heart set its sights on someone better.
This was the CUTEST book I have read in awhile. It brought back all the warm feelings I used to get when I read YA all the time a couple years back butbetter. Mostly because it isn't YA but it has the same vibes. But, I understood the way Andy felt on such a deep level that I was hooked from the first page. His personality was so likable and I was waiting for the moment everything clicked into place for him. And, then Law -- Law is so adorable and honestly the perfect guy. He was so understanding and sweet to Andy even when it was breaking his heart. This is definitely one of my favorite reads so far this year!
I recommend this to anyone who is looking for a low angst book with plenty of pining, the cutest banter between the two mcs and an epilogue that’ll leave you with the biggest smile.
( Also, a little side note...I wouldn’t mind seeing Falcon get his HEA as well. )
