4.5 stars!
I was not expecting to adore this, but I very much did. This is my first read of this author and it was a win for me.
Andy sees himself as the sidekick. His best friend, Falcon, is an athlete, is good looking, popular, and Andy think he's in love with him, except Falcon doesn't seem to see him that way at all. So Andy has a plan to somehow transform himself into a "hero" so he can be seen in a romantic way by Falcon.
Because Andy has always been a bit of a nerd, small and skinny, and thinks he's not terribly attractive, just average, and his hair is a wild nest on his head and he thinks he needs to improve his look and himself to get Falcon.
Only at the very end of his junior year and the start of summer, Andy meets Law Anderson, former hockey star and now assistant coach, who is attractive and athletic and also asks Andy for help.
But Andy has great anxiety over speaking in front of people, so when Law asks him to help tutor 7 guys on his hockey team in physics so they can pass and stay on the team, he says no at first. But Law helps him, and also offers to help him improve to get Falcon.
Except pretty soon after "project hero" starts, these two start to fall for each other. And they were wonderful together. Law saw nothing wrong with Andy from the start, he loved who he was and Andy was more open and comfortable with Law than he was with anyone else. They didn't want it to become anything, but of course, it did. They fell for each other so easily, but thought the other wouldn't want them to fall, so they kept it to themselves for awhile.
But it all works out in the end, and the epilogue was wonderful and the perfect HEA. Seeing where these two were versus where they started out was wonderful, and it was the love they had for each other that got them there.
Definitely recommend, I adored this. Two massive thumbs up from me! <3

A seriously adorable read. I felt the chemistry between Law and Andy from their first meeting. Andy is funny and sarcastic and nerdy, but with a lot of anxiety and self esteem issues. He was a very relatable character for me, from his first description of himself. Law at first seems like your basic jock, but he's so sweet and supportive and brings out the best in Andy and everyone else around him. Together they're just perfect.
The plot is a bit of grab bag of tropes (nerd gets a makeover, friends with benefits who catch feelings, crush on a longtime best friend, nerd meets jock), but they blend in such a nice way. I loved the shifting POVs so we could watch each of their feelings evolve. It was just a really sweet, enjoyable way to spend an afternoon. I read it on Kindle Unlimited then purchased a copy for re-reading, that's how much I enjoyed it.

Super sweet and lovely. I really like how this author writes banter. It never feels OTT.
I honestly loved everything except the way the relationship between the two friends, Falcon and Andy, was handled... We are told that they are childhood bestfriends. Andy has been "in love" with him for years and yet we barely see them interacting through the whole book. Not one text message/phone call. Nothing. It doesn't make sense.
And Falcon who keeps saying he misses him ... idk imagining this story through Falcon's POV mmm I don't think Andy has been a really good friend to him imo. He didn't even tell him he was back home. Falcon was an afterthought. He literally forgot about him... What kind of friends does that? It really seems like Andy didn't care about him anymore which I found painful because hello! they are, allegedly, childhood bestfriends!!
I know it's not really the topic of this book but it really irked me the way platonic relationships are written there.

I’ve already read this book twice but now I did the audio version.

I would have liked this a lot more if the Asola situation was resolved much earlier than the end of the book.
Once the virgin-shaming section came up, this followed the trope down to a T. I wish Andy resolved his feelings for Law on his own and much earlier.
This book was pretty great until Andy brought up having sex with Law as a way to get experience for Asola.

This is such a fun read!
Andy is an adorable character who believes himself to be a mediocre human being, compared to his awesome best friend Falcon, whom he's been crushing on forever.
Campus hockey God Law is desperate for answers to his problems, namely he needs someone to teach his teammates the Laws of Physics so he can achieve his other dream of being hockey coach in the NHL if he couldn't play.
Andy is the solution to Law's problem, and it turns out Andy's also the solution to Law's love life.
I loved how Andy is so quirky, his thought process and his ramblings endeared him to me. For his part, Law sees nothing wrong with the way Andy is, and supports him without mothering him like Falcon does.
The insane chemistry between the two is palpable on page: the first time they met to have sex lessons was so tension-filled, it fogged up my glasses.
I also found their banter funny and flirty (despite Andy's obliviousness to it). I count Project Hero as project completed.
