Really cute, low angst, slow-burn that was the perfect intermission between all the fantasy I've been reading.
What an amazing debut novel.
I'll admit I was a bit turned off from reading this book from the title, but the blurb and the sheer number of recommendations from other readers changed my mind and I am so glad they did.
This book was witty, funny, and oh, so sweet.
Law and Andy are utterly adorable. I love nerdy boys and Andy fulfilled everything I hoped to read from his character from his self-deprecating humor to his snark, sarcasm, and pun t-shirts. He was a rambling dork and I swooned for him.
Law was simple perfection. From his heart of gold and sincere honesty, he was such a great hero in the story.
The storyline was fun, with just enough angst and plenty of steam. That first kiss was... everything.
5/5 stars for this couple. I can't wait to read more from this author.

Funny, sweet with lots of pining and UST. Our protagonist Andy's personality was like the love child of Paul Auster and Sheldon Cooper and I loved every minute of it.
Nerdy, snarky Andy is a physics student with dreams of a PHD from MIT. Also sucking his best friend's cock. Falcon is like the coolest dude ever and for whatever reason his best friend since middle school. And dull little Andy has no idea how get out of the sidekick role and into the romantic interest role. Luckily everything changes when a muscly Adonis with green eyes takes his spot in the library. Law has heard a lot about Andy, the man he's been hunting down as a much needed tutor. But nothing prepares him for the humourous, self deprecating little spitfire that is Andy Carter. He feels himself being pulled into the cute nerd's orbit and he sees a window of opportunity when the reluctant man is obviously in love with Falcon. He decides to trade lessons on physics for lessons in love. All he has to do is NOT fall in love, right?
I loved this book!! Not only were the characters likable and funny but they were also very down to earth and easy to emphasize with. And despite the very obvious HEA waiting for us in the side lanes BP did everything she could to make that journey as close cut as possible. So many deliciously awkward moments! I nearly screamed at 90%. Definitely a new favorite of mine!

lovely reread even though i didn’t remember that this was a slow burn. but whatever i still enjoyed it.
I LOVED this book! Andy and Law were adorable and I enjoyed every second of their banter.
The epilogue, sweet baby Jesus...it was perfection.
Is this going to be a series? I need this to be a series. Falcon should probably get a book.
Side note: super annoyed that goodreads isn't syncing my highlights. *side eye emoji*

It took me quite a while to get into this, somehow the (jealous/romantic) feelings came a little too quickly (after the second meeting?) for someone who’s apparently in love with his best friend and someone who knows that and is trying to help with it. And somehow there wasn’t much of a subplot next to the romance.
But after 50% I was so into it I couldn’t stop reading.
I loved these two together, their banter and interaction and the way they complimented each other. I am super happy with how it all turned out in the end.
I also really love how casually Briar Prescott deals with sexuality (and other themes) in their books.
Definitely going to read Rare next year!

Briar Prescott excels at writing romance that makes you absolutely coo - even when the characters are being idiots. She knocks it out of the park with Project Hero, giving us two MCs who appear to be opposite on the surface but are absolutely perfect for one another beneath it all.
On one end, we have Andy. Andy doesn't believe himself to be anything special. He's a sidekick. Average in every way that one can be average. He's a virgin. He has terrible stage fright. He's a Physics major - which equals total nerd. And, in the most cliche thing of all, he is in love with his popular best friend. He has been for years - so much so that he devises Project Hero, a master plan to turn himself from Sidekick to Hero and win the man of his dreams.
On the other side, we have Law. He's a former hockey player turned assistant coach who dreams of coaching the NHL. He got into coaching after he was benched for medical purposes. As part of his coaching duties, he convinces the hardest Physics teacher in their university to give the seven hockey players who failed his class last semester a second chance. And with that, he figures they need a tutor. He asks around and discovers that Law is the best of the best and decides he must have him - to tutor his players of course. He manages to convince him, but only by offering to help him with Project Hero. He'll teach Andy how to be someone that Falcon will notice.
Over the course of a summer, Law and Andy get to know one another. Law manages to push Andy out of his carefully constructed comfort zone. He convinces him to try new things. He helps him revamp his image and over the summer, Law starts to realize that he is absolutely crazy about Andy. More to the point, he's crazy about the real Andy, not the enhanced Project Hero version. He found Andy attractive with his mess of curls, sweatpants, and funny Physics tees, just as much as he finds him attractive after.
And when he discovers that Andy is a virgin - and Andy discovers Falcon doesn't hook up with virgins, Law offers to help him with that too. A little extra tutoring if you will. Adding the physical does not help the deepening emotional connection between them, and honestly that's where the fun begins. In the end, we are faced with the question of if Project Hero will work and at what cost and what it actually means to fall in love.
This book is steamy and fun. It is incredibly low angst, fluffier than a cloud, and just a very happy making book.
