It should have better!! like I was REALLY looking forward to this series but....It was so bad. Like the writer just watched half of season one of gossip girl and just didn't understand the characters AT ALL. Blair and Chuck >>>>Magnolia and Bj.
Amazingly done audiobook. Very frustrating story and characters. This series is noted to have character development but boy was this origin story painful. Seems pretty hard to redeem them. Very toxic.

Jessa Hastings’ writing is SO good that I was somehow still rooting for BJ at times even though he’s a cheating bum. I was #TeamTom for the most part but alas it was a wonderfully crafted story that made me feel like I transcended into the world of Magnolia Parks and I was flipping through the pages like I was reading the daily newsfeed!
The resolution felt a little sudden to me…. so I’m glad with the cliffhanger and can’t wait to read the remaining books 😻💫

God I’m so sad I really loved the way this book was written but I hate this plot I hate cheaters and I hate them both so much magnolia is a bitch idk and beej is a absolute duck and I hate literally everyone
fucking hell. how do you make a book about a toxic (and literally beyond) as fuck couple AND still make people root for you??? well, intention, self awareness and prose. hastings does something wonderful: she makes you root for this couple that you know it's terrible and you're reading all the ways it is twisted but SHE STILL MAKES YOU ROOT FOR THEM! that's fucking good writing. proof you can write any story if you tell it right. I think the author did a very good job at portraying their story in their most turbulent and troubled times, and also in their happier times. My problem is that there is not a proper transition, and so in the end BJ cheating seems very out of character and nonsensensical. however, love this book, left me haunted
