Freud was a freak who was obsessed with sex. The end. LOL!! Still was interesting to read, even though I don't agree with most of the book at all. :o)
What did I expect from Sigmund Freud other than mentioning sex as the main drive to everything. This book might be important as a testimony of the progress of psychology in general and of dream interpretation in relation to the Unconsciousnes in particular, but to think one will get any decent information out of this book in this time and age, I highly doubt that.
P.S. I skipped chapter 5 all together, yet I don't feel like I lost any necessary piece of information because he mentions sex every where in the book anyway.
P.S.2 I skimmed the last 50% of the book just to finish it, shall I consider this as a DNF in a way 🤣😅.

Reading Freud is like stepping into his genius mind-- it's easy to see that something remarkable is at work, even if you have to re-read some parts because your own mind can't keep up. But I thought the book would most certainly be pretty boring, and was pleasantly surprised when it was quite the opposite.
The subject of dreams, their meanings, and their reason for occurring is tantalizingly intriguing in all its mystery. Freud tackles the topic confidently, and his dedication to the subject oozes through his words (thanks, translator), so that even if you don't agree with a single word he wrote, you have to appreciate that he wrote them. Sure, some of his interpretations are iffy, and his sample dreams (comprised largely of his own) probably biased, but overall I was riveted by the process of dream interpretation itself. Each dream is a journey, and a wildly interesting one at that.
Many of Freud's theories are regarded with skepticism today, but they have seeped their way over the last century not only into psychology, but into many other aspects of life. The Interpretation of Dreams features other theories of Freud's beyond just dream interpretation; for example, his famous Oedipus complex. If you're interested in dream psychology or just dreams or psychology, it's definitely a book for you.
