I accidentally started on the 23rd book in the series! But it was kind of like starting a police procedural in the middle of season two. You can tell these characters have had stories and built relationships that you’ve missed, but it doesn’t make understanding the story at had difficult in any way. Truthfully, the pace and writing style made me want to start from book 1!
I loved how these women were so close to each other. Their friendship was so well rounded.
(And how dare you make me teary eyed at the dentist office!)
I’m excited to start this series from the beginning!!

Not my favourite of the Murder Club books but still worth a read. The story around the trial was interesting but I didn’t like the main bad guy, could have made his character much better.

I’m still here for the Women’s Murder Club! I’ve followed the series this far, and the characters are what keep me coming back. That said, with each book, the plots are starting to feel more repetitive and predictable. 23rd Midnight was okay overall, but it didn’t grip me the way earlier entries did.
There’s definitely something comforting about returning to familiar faces like Lindsay, Claire, Cindy and Yuki but I really wish the series would take a few bold turns or freshen things up. The formula is starting to wear a bit thin. If I wasn’t already this invested in the series, I’m not sure I’d keep going… but here I am.
I’ll stick around for the next one, mostly out of loyalty to the characters but I’m really hoping for something different next time around.

Book #72 read in 2025
It's been a while since I've been in Lindsay Boxer's world, and I missed it. Lindsay and the Women's Murder Club are on the hunt for a copycat killer who sends videos of all his kills to Lindsay. Meanwhile, Yuki is working on a domestic violence case. This is another great one in the series narrated by January LaVoy.

Having been a fan of the series (but not many other Patterson books) since I discovered the first book from my grandma in 2010, this plot's link to previous antagonists made one of the more compelling thrillers as of late.
Cindy Thomas' book about serial killer Evan Burke is finally on the shelves and taking readers by storm. Cindy herself is in the throes of a promotional tour when a new killer hits, one who is using Burke as a mentor. Lindsay Boxer was a key part of the team who put Burke away several years ago, and it seems that both her and Cindy are in the sights of Burke's biggest fan. The clock is ticking as the women's murder club races to identify this latest madman and get him off the streets.
This was my latest buddy read with a good friend, and came at perfect timing to help me space out a pile of arcs I've unwisely requested that are all due at the same time! I love this series for what I call comfort reads, and this one was just the ticket.
This one again focuses mainly on Boxer and Cindy, but we do get to see Yuki in full force in the courtroom too. Patterson and Paetro balanced that out a little more this time that in some recent books, which I appreciated.
I enjoyed the plot and structure of this one. It was back to being largely centred around a police investigation which is bread and butter for a series like this. The connections between this current case and the original Burke case were a nice touch, and there was just enough of a reminder about that original story to refresh my memory, which helped to tie everything together.
Possibly one of my favourite things about this book is the thread running through that hints at a bit of a change up for Lindsay in the not too distant future - it will be interesting to see how that plays out in future books.
