up to 80% everything was good for me, i was ready to give this book 5 stars, but i was so done with all the drama with her ex that my excitement to finish the book went downhill. still, this duology was really great, especially considering i had low expectations
Woman struggles with her terrible job, family members with addiction, and an overbearing fiance, but when everything starts to fall apart, it's not her fiance whom she turns to—it's his best friend.
Love triangles generally aren't my thing, but I really like this author and some people said they enjoyed this book more than the first one in the series (Waking Olivia), which was a 5 star read for me. I'm glad I gave it a chance because there were some good scenes, but most of the time I just wanted to yell at everyone for being idiots. Erin's mom and most of the male characters act shitty toward Erin in one way or another, and it's not until the very end of the book that her self-confidence improves enough to tell them all to take a hike. That was a great chapter, but I wasn't invested enough in Erin's future happiness to tolerate her emotionally draining journey to get there.
I did like how Brenden and Erin's POV chapters alternated between past and present for a big chunk of the book, gradually revealing some defining moments in Brenden's history as he and Erin get tangled together in the present. Audiobook narrators Stephanie Wyles and Rock Engle did an okay job.

Brendan was adorable in the first book so I was excited to read his story. The way that Erin was really his first love without him knowing was so adorable. He was only able to think about her when he was in his relationships. I HATED the rat best friend who kept them apart on purpose. I thought that her fiance, the rat, being gone for half their relationship was really necessary. I was so glad to see Brendan and Erin finally get together. Overall, this series was so cute. I wish I could read it for the first time again.
Brandon is a toxic gym bro and Rob is a toxic finance bro. This whole book could be solved with some therapy and the Erin and Brandon would be so messy in real life. If you want to remember your most chaotic relationship, give this book a go.
Mixed feelings about this one. I loved it at first but it got too frustrating and predictable at certain parts. All in all it was a good read but could do without the frustrating going around in circles stuff.

This was a good book. I enjoyed because I got to see characters I hadn't seen since I read Waking Olivia. Brendan and Erin were so good together and ugh Rob that slime ball. 🙄🙄 I can't wait to read more by her.
